I recently moved into a new house, and the tortoise table has been moved into a "Arizona room" - a sort of indoor/outdoor room. Needless to say, it gets pretty dang hot in that room in the AZ summers (90°'s).

The current UVB bulbs I have create too much heat for the room. I currently have 100 & 160W bulbs.

Is there a good UVB option that doesn't put out much heat?

Hello, you should get the tube type uvb.. they're much better and they dont put out any heat . The mvb bulbs tend to dry out the shell

This is what I use .....Arcadia 12% UVB T5 HO...
It puts out some heat but not to bad.... I only run it about 4-5 hrs a day.

Hatchling sonoran desert tortoises, coming up on 1 year old. They are still pretty small. Open top tortoise table that is 4' long x 2' wide.

Thanks for the input!

I ended up with a 48" reptisun 10.0 uvb bulb and zoo-med 48" hood. The local exotic pet store gave me 25% off which was nice.

When the bulb burns out, I'll look to replace it with that Arcadia bulb.

Now I need to come up with a clever mounting solution to place it at the proper height above my tortoise table.
