Hi, I have a 1 year old hermann who has been sleeping all day and night, he's still eating and peeing and pooing but I'm starting to get a bit worried it's not good..he's only awake for about an hour a day is that normal?

He's in a Viv, 25 in cool side and 33 under lamp. Fed a mix of rocket, dandelion (leaves and flower) clover, cats ear, sow thistle, cucumber as treat.

Humidity is around 75/80.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Thank you, tried to show it as best I can... He does seem ok and happy for the few mins he's up but he's literally eating then going straight to burrow down again.

The lights are on timers for 12.5 hours a day.

The substrate is orchard bark.

How many hours should a 1 year old tort be sleeping?

Bought some tortoise dried fruit/flower pellets yday which the last pic shows he's v happy with!MVIMG_20190906_101040.jpegMVIMG_20190906_095226.jpegMVIMG_20190906_095324.jpegMVIMG_20190906_095347.jpegMVIMG_20190906_101018.jpeg

Looks good! but it's pretty bare. I think he doesn't feel secure enough try getting some plants make him a little jungle so he feels safer. At that young age tortoises love to hide under plants. Try it I'm sure it will help u[emoji846]

This was an old setup from me he loved all the plants and was constantly walking around just to give some idea [emoji846]Screenshot_20190906-120028_YouTube.jpeg

Thank you, at least I'm not doing something glaringly obvious then! Will look into plants, I'm bloody useless though so no idea how they will stay alive! [emoji2360]

Id double check your temp gauges quality & location. Your temp gauges are tucked way over to the left, behind the hide. Id suggest getting much better digital gauges with a sensor probe and put that in the center of the viv. The gauges you have are notoriously inaccurate. Torts hiding out often mean incorrect ambient temps.

Good luck
