Last night my power went out for an unknown time, which got me thinking about future issues like that with our tort. So, what do you do to keep your tort warm if the power ever goes out in the winter? do they have battery powered heat lamps or pads?

Battery powered heat lamps/pads would quickly get depleted. Converting X into something warm like a heat pad takes a lot of energy.

Best, but most expensive is a generator. But you could shop around for a smsll one.

Good luck!

someone keeps the hand and foot warmer packets on hand...I may do that, I think we've had one short outage in the 3 years I've been in my house

I forget what species you have and don't know what kind of home you have. I use a Mr. Heater Big Buddy and a smaller one to keep our home warm in that emergency. Since I have a Russian it's not real hard to keep his temperature up where he needs it. They burn the little 1lb bottles and are pretty safe even in a home. I do have a carbon monoxide detector also just in case.

we are getting a Russian. I have a small, Ranch style home so if needed, keeping one room warm would be very easy

We have a small home. I can't just up and leave for a shelter. The Mr. Heaters keep our whole home warm easily. I consider that the number one priority.

We live in a century old home, with an older breaker box... So when we moved in I bought APC surge protector/emergency batterys for each of my habitats. I keep at least 2 of the CHEs or 1 CHE/1WHE in the BatBackUp outlets, I can get 16 hours straight, If I know we will be down longer I drop my thermostats 5* and time them 2hr on, 2 hr off, I managed a 36 hr outage without losing temps last winter, the habitats did better than the house on general with a gas furnace lol.

I have gas heat as well so at least I have that going for me lol. " knock on wood" but we haven't lost power for longer than a couple hours a couple years ago.
