Not sure if this is the best area to post this.

My condo complex is replacing all the windows in our house. After many phone calls trying to explain i need time and early notice when they plan to work (outside of my tortoise i have a lot of animals all who have varying temp and prone to respiratory issues)

They are coming in a month and we made a quasi plan which would have them doing our basement window first so we can put as many animals down there as possible.

The problem/concern is that apparently moving my 7 year old perfectly healthy (never been sick in his life) Hermann's tortoise from one side of our reptile room to the other side (its a small room and was moved from one side of the window to the other) he ended up getting a respiratory illness that required lots of shots. I'm scared to move him but i don't really have an option. The basement is much colder (greeeat) so this week im turning the A/C off and heating up the basement with a bunch of space heaters.

Anything else i should be doing for him, tips, tricks, insight. All input is helpful at this point.

Thanks.

Are you not controlling the climate in his enclosure? If you have your enclosure setup with a heat source there shouldn't be any difference wherever you put the enclosure in your house.

Yes his enclosure is climate control however He has an open tortoise table which in our reptile room that is 8 degrees hotter than our house. It will certainly change as our basement is prob 5 degrees cooler than the rest of the house so there will be a significant difference. As i said we will have heaters on so thats less the issue...but just moving my tortoise from one side of a climate controlled room to the other seemingly brought on a respiratory issue, thus i would like input on how best to control as much as i can.

I gotcha, is it a big table? Maybe you could add another heat source on another end of table to help keep the temps in it stable.
