How often should one soak a Tortise?? Petie is a Russian and I soak him every other day (or at least it's a newer habit to soak every other day) and I put a medium size saucer of shallow water in his tank.. im wondering if it's enough

I soak my hatchlings every day. Sub-adults and adults get soaked once a week. I use tupperware containers so the tortoise cannot climb out, since I soak each of them in warm water for 30 minutes. The water level is up to the bottom of their shell.

I use large Tupperware bowl for Petie too... I keep 3 tubs with water and warm it up so that when one bowl gets "poopie" I swap him to a fresh bowl each time..

I think every other day is fine. Does he get much outside time? My Russian loves VA summers

Since Petie is full grown, I wouldn't force soak him at all. I'd make sure he has fresh water in his enclosure at all times and just leave it up to him to use it or not. Russians are not big fans of water. If you want to get more water into him you can spritz water over his food daily when you feed him.

THat is why my outdoor enclosure is right in the path of the sprinkler!
