It showed up. There's something strange going on with pictures and the Forum lately. They don't post then later when you go back, they're there.

It is a grass that grows on the edge of our property before the woods. My wife just dug up shovel fulls and replanted in the enclosure.

I have a grass here in Minnesota that is the exact same and I dug some up for bubba's enclosure. He loves to hide in it as it's a thick plant. Opo is gorgeous!
Thank you, it has been a few months since I weighed him. My scale only went to 11lbs. I just ordered a new one today. Cant wait to see how big he is.

Oof 11 pounds, he sure is getting big. I cannot wait to see how much he has gained when your scale gets there![emoji4] Is Opo the only tortoise you have?

Yes Opo is the only one. I was going to take ZEROPILOT's redfoot (Wild Child) but my health went south and I decided just to stay with Opo.
How many torts do you have?

Opo is a lucky tort [emoji3526] I'm sorry to hear about your health. I have no torts, I do have a yearling snapper Elvis, and of course bubba(who If you followed my thread I just found out he isn't a box turtle, he's a blandings turtle) and I have Aberforth the baby snapper who just hatched yesterday. I have been thinking about getting a tort, although I was talking to another member who has a DBT, which she might rehome next spring, if she does decide to I'm certainly waiting for the chance [emoji4] I hope your spider bite and everything is okay. Have a great day Ray! Absolutely love Opo [emoji3590] he's beautiful [emoji7]

Snappers would be interesting. I missed the post. Where did you get a snapper egg?
Opo has been my motivator since my vehicle accident. I am so happy I got him. Even though he is just over 2yrs old. At night I can't wait to see him in the morning. I enjoy the morning routine we have together.

I go fishing alot and walk around the swamps and look at the wildlife, I saw a nest that had shells all around and animal prints so I went to look if any had survived. There was 2 that didn't get eaten, I grabbed them hoping they were still viable. One hatched two days ago and another pipped this morning but his heart is visible outside of his chest.. praying but not sure how I could even help him. Overall snappers are fun, the only time mine have ever been aggressive is during feeding. I do hand feed Elvis, most likely stopping soon as he is getting big and I don't want him to miss, although when he knows he bit me he lets go right away and stops eating. I'm so glad to hear Opo helps you stay happy. They certainly have that tendency. Oh my I didn't know you had an auto accident.. I'm so sorry. You definitely need something to keep your spirits high [emoji3526] what kind of attitude does Opo have? He's gorgeous. Have you had any torts before Opo?

I had a tort when I was in grade school. You can imagine how long it lived keeping in the a shoebox with some grass in the bottom.
Opo is persistent, sometimes he seems to show or want attention. Other times he wants to be let alone. I can pet him on the head, sides of his head and neck.
I think that is cool having snappers as pets.
To make a long story short. My wife and I were involved in a 1 vehicle rollover over accident. I was in a coma for about two and a half months. Many injuries but the 2 worst are right leg amputated above the knee and right hand and wrist amputated.

I suppose that's how we all start with our pets.. at a young age, not sure how to care for it, we learn from the experience at least. Opo sounds like a good friend you have [emoji3526] he sounds like he has a great personality. I think some torts have emotions lol. I really enjoy my little snappers. Although I do have 2 young children.. none of which have ever been bitten by a turtle. For the most part they stay away, I have minnows in his pool so I think they look at the minnows more than Elvis. Oh my goodness Ray! Are you okay? Is your wife okay? Oh my.. i could never imagine going through something like that.. I'm so glad you both are okay after that. I'm sure you're wife must've been a wreck while you were in a coma.. my goodness. I couldn't imagine going through that with my husband or anyone for that matter. It made me tear up just thinking of how hard it must've been for both of you and especially you! God bless you both! Gosh you have been through absolute hell and you still have a good attitude about everything. How do you stay positive? Wow.. you are such an inspiration to me Ray.

Thanks although my wife didn't sustain injuries as bad as me. She still fractured vertebraes in her neck and some bumps and bruises. Part of being positive most of the time is the way my wife cares for me. Never complains and makes sure my care is followed to the T. I give God the rest of the credit. But Opo and members here on TFO have been a blessing also.
