Hi every,
First time posting...looking for advice/help. I have had my two RT for 5 years. Both females, confirmed (or so I thought) by the vet. The older one Fester is now climbing on Feena and humping her while squeaking...Never had I imagined this would happen.
Anyone know why this may be happening?
Is this normal?
Enclosure box is 3-1/2 ft X 4ft
Heat is 76°-78° on one side
Basking area is 85°

Females will mount other females, its a dominance/territorial thing. You probably should separate them into their own enclosures.

Tortoises should not be kept in pairs. Sexes and ages don't matter. They need to be separated ASAP. This is dominant behavior and it is very stressful and unnatural for both of them to be living this way.

Congratulations on separating them at the first notice.
So many new members disregard that first attempt at help and then a few posts later, one tortoise is missing a leg or a tail.
Welcome to the forum.
Buying a pair of tortoises is the most common newbie mistake. You're not alone. We all think that tortoises get lonely like us.
Tortoises HATE companions.
