its in a corner of my living room and is all solid cedar. its kind of a triangle shaped and is 8 by 9 foot with another story about 5 ft or so above where she normally resides. My girl loves to climb and over come obstacles and has had stairs in pervious pens but not like this. still waiting for her to get brave enough to go the full length of the stair case. about half way up she either gets scared or cold or forgets why shes there and then will turn around.

biggest pain in my *** but really proud and happy how it turned out : )

Yeah its a pain.. u have to load it to youtube and then post it here
@Yvonne G It would be great if the forum had its own storage for media posted here. That way we would avoid losing old pics like the ones from Tom's boxes threads. I know there's a cost involved but perhaps amazon or other cloud providers have more attractive packages lately.

The problem with Tom's pictures is that he used photobucket or tinypics instead of just using the Forum's picture attachment. If a member uses photobucket to post their pictures there's nothing we can to do save them

Wonderful construction and looks expensive but one HUGE mistake. Fumes/outgassing from Cedar can be fatal to reptiles. Glad to hear you're done with it.

My yellow foot is never really actually in contact with the cedar structer and after some re serch i found that only when their in direct contact with the wood or have it touching their skin like shavings will problems arise. After being in there now 3-4 months no problems that i've noticed, still active and still even though this thing is huge, she still wants out regularly to roam the house. eats whatever is in front of her.

i'll take more picks tomorrow when its light

thanks for the kind words all and if some one has more info on the cedar and fumes and if what i've got needs mended please let me know : )

I have cedar blocks I made from when my neighbors tree came down years ago. The first week or so you could smell cedar then nothing. You have to sand that dried top off to get the odor again so dont worry. Also I have a cedar lined closet in my bedroom from 1923 and while it looks beautiful no scent. I think you are fine just watch that the tort doesn't chew at the wood, but even then low danger. It is when it is mulched and you get the smaller edible pieces that toxic danger is the highest. Although cedar dust from cutting and sanding can be very irritating as long as you don't remodel it while he is in their you are okay

Remember that after a few days we become nose blind so that is little indication. I have a cat box that can smell pretty bad and cannot smell it most of the time. A tortoise is down low where smells or fumes tend to settle to. It's just something that I wouldn't risk.

heres the area she tends to sleep in under the stair case

so as you see there is some cedar edges there. not much but since today and tomorrow is in the low 50s im gonna go look for sticks and things to stack up against that back part so there is absolutely NO contact. some times she is facing away from it other times it sounds/looks like shes trying to borrow underneath.

when looking at those pics above you'll see the stair case going up and the turning in front of that door. once the door is opened if i must i can remove that section of stairs. all cords are out of her way. all the sides are doors so i can get to what ever when ever. the big door really help when switching out the plants in the containers, as it gets warmer those go outside to and are replaced with ones with just grass growing in them. Tortoise is outside except during storms and high wind so it helps i think to keep things as alike inside as it is outside.

Looks beautiful! But I’m a little confused... since when are Tortoise arboreal or climbing animals? Or is there a different animal that shares the space which climbs up there?
