Last night, one of my baby box turtles drowned. This is why I check on my animals several times a day. You never know what could happen. There isn't much structure in the enclosure, just hides, so I thought tipping over would be minimal. However, it still managed to flip on its back. There are six in the enclosure, a little overcrowded, but they're small so they have plenty of room. They live in an inch of water up to their chin. I discovered the little one when I was bringing their dubia roaches. I instantly grabbed it and it was still moving. I put it between my index finger and thumb and began to pump. I also blew in it's nose and gently pushed it's head in and out. Lastly I blew in it's nose and repeated the process. Eventually, it spat out all the water and regained it's spunk. Now, it's perfectly fine. I added fake plants, so if they do fall they'll have some leverage to use to flip themselves over.

Glad you were able to save him. Always be sure to try and get water out before anything else so the water isn't pushed down further.
I believe @Yvonne G has mentioned before to put tort in palms with head pointing towards your fingers and swing the torts downward.
Maggie's way should work too.

I tilted him forward. Kinda like how you would do a baby, and he coughed it up no problem once I started gently squeezing him between my thumb and finger. Once I saw movement, I started blowing in his nose, rubbing under the chin and pushing the head in and out.

Yea, getting the water out first is important.

Thanks. I love how vibrant they get as they age.
Yes I was looking at some mature eastern's. They are beautiful, I came across a gold coin box turtle. They are from China. The cost for one is $10,000 to $25,000. I guess I will just be looking at pictures of those turtles. ?

Yes, swing like a pendulum with them between cupped hands

I would put forth the suggestion that any turtle that is fetching those kinds of numbers is likely so critically endangered that money simply doesn't matter anymore. They will be gone soon thanks to the sellers.

Apparently(source-Google), their only natural location left is in Hong Kong....what odds do we give any turtle living among nearly 8 million people in HK?

That's just my opinion.........full disclosure; that's coming from someone who places very little value on "money" beyond its use as a tool to secure goods & services.
