hey @Tom , my tortoise has been eating very rarely and sometimes, I see bubbles blowing up on the nose. Temperatures are 82f(28C) low and 102f(39C) high for a day. humidity ranges from 45-85% in a day. how much sunlight is safe, on top of that how much uva-uvb light does it require and how to reduce the bubbles

What species size and age? What is the ambient temp during the day on the cool side of the enclosure away from the heat lamp?

What type of UV bulb are you using?

3 inch shell and 4 inch if face and legs are counted 151 grams weight
indian star tortoise
i dont use the lamp (i have a 50w lamp) i put it in sunlight in the morning and evening
tomorrow's high will be 40C (104f) and low will be 28C (82f)
i think my tort has become lethargic because of the heat
when i brought in inside the ac room, it moved around and showed some activity
how to calculate the age of an Indian Star Tortoise?

The only way to know the age is to know that hatch date.

The bulbs are an indication of a respiratory infection. This is usually the result of cool temps, especially at night. Do you have night heat for the tortoise? With high humidity and evaporative cooling, I'll bet the enclosure drops well below 28C on cooler rainy nights. Correct me if you've checked this and I am wrong.

There is very little UV in morning or evening sun, bit I don't think that is your problem. Stars like it hot. No lower than 27 at night, and ambient in their large closed chamber should be around 32-35C during the day with a basking area directly under the bulb of around 37C. 40C in and outside enclosure should be okay for this species, AS LONG AS there is heavy deep shade to retreat to at those temps.

Here is the care info for this species. Give it a read and see where your care is different:

star tortoise known is one of those very hard to care for. Also, stress could lead bubble nose too.
one thing is don't jump temp in ur enclosure all over the place, could easily get a cold.
