Hello! I recently rescued a heavily pyramided Cherryhead.🥲
Anyway, just curious if tortoises that are very pyramided can still lay eggs?
You see, her carapace is quite flat compared to my other adult cherryheads. C22D1355-5214-4DF4-9D66-D4EF0DFC2210.jpegE25F3B17-FF4B-49B2-A33F-35CF4A5BB25E.jpegWould appreciate your opinion. Thank you! 😘🙏🏼

Yes they can, but not always.

Those ramped water bowl are a flipping and drowning hazard. You should remove that immediately and replace it with a terra cotta saucer sunk into the substrate.

Please ensure they have access to calcium to help shell strength and particularly the female will need calcium after the egg laying. Cuttle fish used in bird cages and some powder calcium on the fresh leaves. Whilst you can not reverse the pyramid you can try to make new growth smoother as it effect their spine, mobility and health.

One thing to be cognizant of, is whether the gap the eggs have to pass through is big enough. So some photos of the plastron near the tail would be more helpful. Consider whether this gap is significantly smaller than other adult females. If so, I would be more concerned. However even without breeding, she may produce eggs, so if there is an issue then not breeding her may not avoid it.
