I was wondering, could there be an emergency list of a tortoise owning buddy in the same region as an owner, who could provide temporary guardianship or info/help in the event of the death of an owner?

I think it’s always worth wile to try and make friends with other tortoise keepers. So fun to chat with like minded people and a resource if help is ever needed
It's a great idea. Get things written down so it's set for legalities. Not as hard as it sounds, but can save hurt feelings and misunderstandings. Make sure the other party(s) know and agree. Also be sure somebody comes in here to TFO, so we know.

Good idea!
I think my tort will end up at a tortoise sanctuary when I die, which I'm really not happy about for many reasons, but especially because they won't rehome any even thought they are overcrowded; sadly none of my family are interested in keeping him.
It may be worth starting a list in the Regional thread.
