Hi just want to ask some help on my new IS torts. Got them from a rehome here locally. Just notice their shells seem dry. and some has marks of white go or spots, i tried to scrape it but wont remove, but when i wet it, it goes away, until it becomes dry again. not sure what it is? doesnt look like new growth, prevoius owner said food staina but i tried cleaning w cotton buds and my nail slowly doesnt seem to come off. I noticed the previous owner used a coils UVB in an enclosed habitant so maybe thats the cause? when wet looks okay, only when dry

any tips on how to better restore the shell, both seem very shy, but looks like 1 yo already, rough 3 inches and 3.5 inches, both same clutch, but smaller one got sick and colds as per orig owner shared, but recoverd already. just worried that she still stay smaller? is that normal if came sick less growth?

pls see photos

Wow they look pretty good.
The dry looking spot could be from a heat source too close, or scraping on something, etc.
@Tom might be able to help.

Most of the pics blur when I zoom in, but those appear to be hard water stains. Mineral deposits as mineralized water evaporates and leaves the minerals behind. It won't hurt anything and it will eventually rub and fade away.

Tortoises need to drink and soak unmineralized regular water, but I like to spray rinse mine after their soaks with de-mineralized water like collected rain water, distilled water, or reverse osmosis water. If ever you are spraying the enclosure or tortoise, this will also prevent hardware stains on your enclosure surfaces.

Indian stars are notoriously shy, so don't be surprised if that doesn't change much.

Its hot in India. Keep these guys warm, and they should not live together as a pair. House them separately or get more than two.
