Hi I need some advice. I was at Petsmart the other day and I saw a Russian tortoise that didn’t look too good so I adopted him. He his very malnourished and had a calcium deficiency. The workers at Petsmart said they didn’t really know how to take care of him. I bought a big enclosure, and bedding for it as well as the food and water dishes, and a rainbow log to hide under. I had a big heat lamp with a light at home so I grabbed that, I ordered two uvb lamps and calcium powder for his food. I got him cucumbers, blueberries, and bananas ( to give to him in small amounts once in a while) and the main things I bought were kale and collard greens. I am giving him warm baths with auquasafe and gently scrubbing him with a soft toothbrush. He’s very lethargic and doesn’t move much, doesn’t eat a whole lot but I’ve noticed him eating some. He has pooped and peed since I’ve gotten him which is good. I have had a Russian tortoise before but not one that was sick, and im still learning. Do you have any advice on trying to heal him and make sure he’ll have a good life? I would really appreciate some advice

No fruit for a Russian. It will upset their stomach and GI tract. Kale and collards are okay once in a while, but not every day.

Its all here. There is a care sheet at the end that explains everything you need to do:
