I've been toying with the thought of getting a pair of these for awhile. Haven't done much research on this particular type of tortoise. Can anyone recommend any good research articles, books, web sites, etc... specifically on pancakes to get me started?

Thanks for the information guys. What I'm really trying to find out is if a pancake tortoise is pyramided, is he then a waffle tortoise?

mmmmmmmmm pancakes

I know I've seen pics of at least one pancake named "Ihop"

I can't say that I've found alot of information about them. I did talk to Danny about them once, and he mentioned they weren't really all that tough. That is by his standards though, and he also keeps chacos and egyptians, so what does that say?

What do you want to know? In my experience they are very easy. They like it dry-ish, eat leafy greens, like to hide all the time, and have a soft shell. I dont have any websites to direct you to. I do have a pancake and hes the only tortoise I've ever had. I've had great luck with him. I have no basis of comparison, but I hear they like to hide all the time. Mine hides a lot, but can be very active. He is more active after I rearrange his enclosure. He likes to be soaked every couple days. Thats about it.

I'm mainly looking for natural history type stuff, maybe research articles on wild pancake tortoises, status in the wild and pet trade, native climate and habitat, kinda along those lines. I can search through the internet all day and find stuff, just wondering if anyone knew of any good resources out there. I'm more of a book and article kinda learner.
