I'm excited to see new pics Terry! The parents are gorgeous, but not lacking in color at all ;) Maybe they both carry a recessive gene for blackcherries :D Is this the first dark baby from them? Or, that female?

This may show their "nursery-cup" some -

I don't like to do a lot of photo-grabbing at this age.. you may see a hint of how huge the yolk-sac is still.. even at 6 months he hatched at least 2-3 weeks premy -

Can you say SMOOOOOOOOTH? :D :D :D

I like the ones with less red on the legs, like mine and the one you just hatched. Mine only has one red scale per front leg and two red scales per back heel.

Love the new baby :D

I did everything I knew how to do!

The yolk-sac was so huge that I had to "prop" him up with the paper towels because he kept 'falling-over' sideways or facedown, etc. It was really difficult because I didn't want all the weight(?) put on the yolk-sac. The yolk actually looked like an extension of his plastron instead of something the tortoise grew from.. if that makes any sense. He hung on for quite awhile. He was one of the very few

He showed life until this morning.

Sorry to hear that Terry. Ive had the same thing happen to me. It looks like the youlk sack protrudes all the way up to the pectoral scutes. I have a freind that puts them upside down when the yolk sack is huge. I dont like that. I have these, what look like mini paper towel cardboard rolls. I cut them down so the torts feet cant touch and I put the yolk sack right in the middle, so their propped up. I put them back in the incubator in a container that wont let light in even when I open the incubator door. And, I leave them alone.
