Last Tuesday I received this rescued Northern DBT. It has no left foot and no tail and an outgoing, active nature therefore Long John Silver.

I meant right. He gets around very well by using front feet more than usual. I think brackish water and shell gravel (which he munchs on) help alot.

The shell gravel us a good idea I used to mix clam, oyster and mussel shells in the sand for my old terrapins. It helps keep the pH up and helps to keep their crushing plates worn.
