Hey Guys!

I am trying to figure out what this big girl is? I think she's a female Gopher, but if any experts in the group could confirm I would appreciate it!

She is a waif. I nearly ran her over while she ambled up a busy highway. I live in Central Florida and there are a lot of new 55+ development communities sprouting up so I think it is displacing the native tortoise population. She's a big healthy girl though...

She's also missing her tail...Sad.

Are you going to keep her?

Most likely not. I did not know she was a Gopher when I rescued her and here in Sunny Florida it is illegal to molest them in any way. I am likely going to contact FL Fish & Wildlife and see if they can rehouse her somewhere more appropriate. Would love to keep her, but I have my hands full with my Aldabra without adding an illegal burrower to my hobbies!
