Just like Terri Turtle(he posted a post about a missing tortoise), I have come to this forum for a very unhappy reason. But, I have high hopes, and will try my best to solve this incident. By the way, my name is Andrew and I'm a high school student. I have 2 siblings, Winnie and Jonathan, and a loving mother, and hard-working father. I also have 2 parakeets, Earwin and Lily(Lily's a boy by the way), and two anonymous turtles(maybe when their personality develops I will name them). I live in Fremont, CA. I'm half way through high school, and I learned a lot and hope to learn much more soon.

Back to the tortoise, it's name is also anonymous, but I'll make sure to give it a name when he comes back to our cozy, warm home. He was lost on the front yard. I know, it's so foolish to just leave your pet unattended, but now it's my turn to stay strong and put it back to its proper place. Turtles and tortoises, and other not so well known exotic species are not as recognized as dogs and cats, but hopefully it's found at this point.(I've lost it for almost a year; back in October). Then again, he could be hibernating, which is more than likely possible since it was near winter when I first lost it. Don't fret about it, I've lost it many times and learned from my mistakes, never leave your pet unattended, just like I said earlier. Well, other than that, I appreciate any welcome to me to the forum and don't hesitate to reply to me anytime.

Welcome to the forum.

Hey Andrew, Thank you, that really cheered me up. I know, losing a pet is so devastating, especially a pet like a tortoise. I know I will have a great time in this forum. That is, after I find my tortoise wherever he is. Anyways, I'll keep you posted on my daily progress. Currently, I am handing out posters to neighbors in the meantime.

Hi, Andrew! It has been a week today since I lost Toby. :( Is your yard fenced? I only wish I had a fenced yard...I live on a 100 wide open acres. Makes for difficult searching. When you last lost your tort, how far did he go, or did you find him in your yard? I am trying to find information on how far they will travel (and in what amount of time) so I know how far my search should be. Wishing you the best of luck in finding "anonymous". I get up every morning and hike around the pasture. I have faith that one morning I will find Toby!!

Yes, my backyard is fenced, but my front yard is not. I feel bad for you, your tort could be anywhere. But here's what I found out. Tortoises usually stay close to where you last saw them if and only if you live in the city unless someone picked it up, which for you, could be highly unlikely. When I last lost my tort, he was buried in the cracks and holes in the bushes and shrubs. How much time did it take me to realize the tortoise was in my front yard the whole time? Exactly 2 weeks, which is pretty long, but short compared to what you are going through. I'm the same too, I get up early or during the early evening searching around my front yard, but to no avail. Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. Also, I, too have faith I'll find my Anonymous somewhere.

Hey Jeff, yes my tort is quite small, more or less bigger than a palm of my hand. I'll try harder in my search, I know he has to be around somewhere. Thanks for the reply and I hope to hear more from you.
