Hello, my name's Lydia, and I'm pretty new to Tortoise keeping. I originally got started with aquatic turtles a few years back (painteds, to be specific), and just started getting into tortoise keeping this year! :)

I currently have three redfooted tortoises, named Redmond Barry, William Thackeray, and Henry Longfellow (I might change his/her name and name my next snake that, instead LOL), each about 6 months old. Two were just recently purchased from the lovely Vicki Hale of the TortoiseYard.com website, and the other is from Marc Cantos, who owns TheTurtleSource.com (I had another tortoise, Barry Lyndon, who came from Marc, but he arrived with MBD and a slew of other problems and unfortunately passed away despite my best efforts... so I wouldn't recommend purchasing from that site).

I'm really into DIY projects, so you all should expect to start seeing some awesome building projects in the future, once I feel confident enough to move the tortoises out of their quarantine/baby setup and get them into an official tortoise table (if any of you own aquatics too, I'd be more than happy to show you how to build an ATBA :3)

Anyways, I look forward to getting to meet everyone here!

ATBA stands for above tank basking area. It's basically a basking platform you build above the aquarium, so you can fill it up to the top, instead of using more traditional in tank basking devices, which usually lead to a tank being able to only be filled halfway.

That's very cool you have a pond. You have a great day too!

Oh goodness, I know haha. This is my first time doing this, though. I just can't seem to find a name that's right for these two newest tortoises... nothing seems right so far. We'll see, I suppose. I guess I just have to wait and see what fits their personalities best.

Thanks everyone, I look forward to sharing my projects!

I'm currently about to start on building a custom enclosure with the footprint of a 75 gallon for my ball python, that'll begin next week after finals (the joys of Uni haha) but I'll probably post it here, the overall design might interest some people. I figure someone could probably take it and use it for tortoises/modify it to better fit their needs.

Then, once I clear out the upstairs hallway and make some room, I'm going to start on building the RF enclosure, hopefully during this winter break (so stay tuned for that!). Like I said, this is my first year with tortoises, so I'm still not 100% on sizing like I am with aquatics.

What would you all recommend for three RFs? I'd like a size that'll last me more than just a year or two. I live in Ohio, so they're going to spend the majority of the year indoors because of the weather. I was thinking of maybe just going the easy route and attaching two of those Zoo Med tortoises houses for a 6' by 2' enclosure.
