Hi everyone, after a week of research or so from various forum readings and research on turtletary (my main source) and all the other recommended sources I have finally put together my diet plan for my baby red foot 4 month old Captain.

Here is the diet plan, if you think I should add/change anything let me know. The absolutely no section is just because that is what I probably will not and don't want to feed him, it doesn't mean that tortoises can't have it, i just needed to make it for my mom to be able to use as a reference when i am not home.

Everyday I will try to do a mixture of greens or fruits not just one green... So all listed are not just one meal it will be a variety in every meal.

I use the repetitive without d3 for vitamins recommend by the pet store and the vet recommend i used my pellet food twice a week I will probably just mix one or two pellets into the fruit mixture I make...

When he turns 6 months (suggested age for supplementing protein from turtletary correct?) in march I will change sunday to protein days and feed him the suggested proteins maybe even the cat food mixture with calcium that is said on turtletary instead of an extra day of greens.

Vegetables I will add as a treat or in the greens some days not all the time just to add something new but I probably won't do veggies all the time.

Please let me know what you think if its a good diet plan to follow??

My only concern was that I didn't realize that repetitive I had doesn't say it has calcium but the ingredients does? Is this ok to use or do i need something else?

My main source was turtletary, tortoise library and redfoottortoise for all my research.

Here are the pellets and vitamins i have

The grassland pellets are good, i would also suggest masuri. Also i would add more of a variety. They also like sweet potato. Squash. I think your guy will become a little bored with your diet plan. There are many things they can eat. Also be cautious on the eggs. I learned the hard way. It will make them have the runs in large doses. So keep it minimal.

You might run into an issue when packing a variety in each meal. Greens go bad fairly quickly so unless your family eats all those greens, too, you'll have a lot of spoiled food within days to a week. It's a small detail but important, nonetheless.

To be honest, I never really stuck to a schedule. I just wrote everything down in a book. Me and plans never work out (I found that out the hard way when I had kids). I'd say try out your schedule, add more variety and if you can, grow your own weeds to add into the mix (Broadleaf plantain, chickweed, clover, etc). As for protein, maybe some boiled chicken? Just make sure not to overdo the food. Keep charting their weights and lengths to make sure they're growing slow and steady. All of my guys have to go on a diet because I kept feeding them Spring/Summer quantities during Fall/Winter and now they have to hit the gym. I can tell you're doing a lot of research. Just don't drive yourself crazy doing so. I almost did and you'll find it's a lot simpler than you think once you get the hang of things.

I would split your vitamin days up...I do Thursday and Sunday, for instance.

Looks like a good plan to me, otherwise. Out of curiosity, why no bananas or tomatoes? They're usually a very popular treat that torts love.

I haven't heard many good things about tomatoes but I think I will end up using some bananas :)

Just also curious if the reptivite I have is okay to be using or should I get some sort of calcium powder?? I was thinking I will use the reptivite for now and when I start feeding him some protein I will add the calcium powder on the protein.. Do I have the right idea?

I personally don't use cat food. They can have fillers that aren't great, I just do hard boiled eggs and a meal worm every now and then. Mazuri is great to mix in with the greens! I wet it a bit so my little guys can eat it easier and they love it

The very specific cat food recommended by Terry ( Turtletery) has been very successful with my Redfoots.
I would never substitute this for any other type!

You did great homework!
I also use Mazuri. Mainly variois greens and fruits.

You are on the right track!

Cat food has loads of junk and filler in it, especially the brand he recommends, unless he's changed it.

I started off with a plan, but it never worked out that way. Foods go bad so fast. Just mix it up and keep it varied.
