[ I started this a few minutes ago and forgot to "SAVE" it ]

Earlier TerryO had started her new thread on pics of Pio.. and had mentioned that she loved that Rudolph nose!

As it would happen I just took my new camera out of the box.. [ an hour ago ]! I dropped the other one in the water and the LCD screen went crazy and I can't see what I'm pic'n! [ feeble excuse to get a new camera huh? ]

Anyway I put the newly charged battery in the new camera.. put the memory stick in.. set it on "Intelligent Auto" - aka 'point & shoot' - because I'm not as intelligent as ( OR have the $$$$ ) that Chewbecca and her big fancy SLR -

..... inside joke.

So I pushed the "ON" button and prayed that it wouldn't implode.....

I went over to the tort building and POINTED AND SHOOTED!

The little male Brazilian was sittin' under the light [ dark otherwise ]..

and when he saw the flash.. looked up! And I moved in 'real close'..

Yeah that's a Rudoph nose alright.

I wonder what kind of nose pic'n I'll be able to do when I figure out how this thing works???

Awww I love tort nostril pictures! Such a Rudolph nose too. Congrats on the new camera, and hope you get some great shots with it. The main reason I bought a new camera is for tort pictures. hehe

I got a similar picture of Trevor attacking the camera. Looks so much bigger and scarier than he is.

Wow, what an exquisite close-up! Too bad the calendar submission thread is closed now; that would have been a highly-rated entry.

I 'preciate it everybody!

Having good equipment always helps.. and again knowing how to use it makes a big difference too!!!

TerryO is using the same camera she always used [ almost 100% sure ]....... she now knows how to better use what she has.

From an old 3.2MP camera -

Gorgeous.

Having a decent camera is not vital, but knowing how to use it really helps- but it also helps to have a good 'eye', like you do Terry!

My daughter is a great photographer- does wonderful things with a camera phone and spends more on photo gear than I do on tortoise stuff. She can get great stuff from my camera, while about all I get is serviceable but not real share-worthy (like the new habitat stuff in another thread.)

Having the artists touch makes a difference.

Love that photo of the venerable old guy at the zoo. His eyes look so wise and deep, as if he's seen it all. I wonder how old he is?

That would be most of us Terry. Also I have a great read on how to take photos of black dogs that might help some with their mostly black torts. Spray with a light mist of water just before shooting as its the light reflected that you want. And catch lights in the eyes. Anyone like it posted?

I never hope to "show off".. just share what I've been blessed with ---- too old and too late to seek "strokes"!

{ ANYBODY } Send me your camera make and model # and I'll get your 'focal-lengths' for you.

TerryO your Pio-pic'n has improved substantially! Taking pics thru glass is not easy.. getting enough light in.

LMK how I can help...
