Sorry, the thread didn't update for some reasons, I saw it is now released. Thanks for update :)

    Please help

Initially, where are you as there are only so many places in mainland Europe that your tortoise would be found wild, and could survive in the wild across all seasons. Releasing him elsewhere could mean he cannot feed or survive a winter depending on where you are. Try googling Tortoise Table...

Need Help; tortoise making too much noise!

I think this needs to be flipped around. You are focusing on the discomfort it's causing to your flat mate, but not to the tortoise. Any adult tortoise is wild ranging and needs significant space beyond that of a room in a house (unless it's solely given over to him and planted up etc), even so...

    Let's discuss tortoise evolution

I swear my Tortoise is so dull sometimes I think he might be devolving 😆😆

Hi new here with a baby greek

You really need to have a look at the care sheets on this forum. They will help a lot. Also take a look at the Tortoise Table Plant Database (Google it) it will give you a good idea of what is safe for a mediterranean tortoise of which Greek is a type to eat. A couple of points: Greeks cannot...

Substrate built up into my tortoises leg cavity

While Tortoises do not appreciate petting and handling constantly, I believe there is a place for getting a Tortoise happy with being inspected frequently including full visuals of all parts of legs, under tail etc and into shell.

    Can anyone ID?

No worries...I've never managed to keep one alive as desk plants, so good luck!

IS THIS WEED OKAY TO FEED TORTOISES

I pay £19.99 annually for it and it's absolutely invaluable.

    Can anyone ID?

That's absolutely what it is, this variety is Silver Urn, also known as Living Urn, or Living Vase. All Bromeliads can be eaten by tortoises.

    Northen Italy Testudo graeca ibera

Ahh, after I saw yours, I saw another Oogway! Kung-fu Panda explains it haha! I've already ordered what I think I will need and will do the switch on the weekend! Thank you for responding :)

    Northen Italy Testudo graeca ibera

I never saw your thread before! It was really enjoyable to read! You clearly have researched and made a lot of effort on the care of your tortoises! All the names are ones we would recognise in the UK, except Oogway...can you provide some background, is it a name from a child's TV programme or...

    Confused beginner with a hermann's

Further to my other response, I also wasn't a fan of their volunteers and 'employees' leaving positive reviews online for them. .and sorry OP a bit off tangent.

    Confused beginner with a hermann's

I went there to discuss possibly getting them to hibernate my tortoise one year while i travelled but having spoken to them decided against it. I too was unhappy to see tortoises still out in very small enclosures, with multiples kept together when overnight temperatures were around 3-4 degrees...

    Confused beginner with a hermann's

Sorry two responses, just for clarity/ advice then, in the absence of bark or coir being available in a location, possibly as in the example of the OP, what is the suggested "least harm" bedding as a possible alternative in your opinion?

    Confused beginner with a hermann's

I totally disagree with most of their methodology there on various things; they told me my tortoise was without a doubt female when I've seen his willy and they said I was wrong. I argued my tortoise was an Ibera and that was why he was dark, because he was northern and they said Iberas are...

    Confused beginner with a hermann's

It's not a case of me needing to find the right information particularly, I think it is the influence of others. My tortoise for years was on damper substrate and was very happy but I took him over to the ITA and they literally emptied his travel box of substrate and said in no uncertain term...

    Confused beginner with a hermann's

That's why it's used for tortoises and horses, it's doesn't mold and has natural antibacterial properties? The International Tortoise Association based in the UK will only use hemp for their tortoises because of this and do not like Orchid Bark due to the potential for white mold growth. I...

Yes absolutely! Or gumtree...mine was in the recycle part of IKEA where old stock is held and was reduced to £25! It's a nice wipeable surface too!

    Confused beginner with a hermann's

If you get really stuck for bedding, there is a hemp horse bedding which is more like bolser wood, so soft and breaks down easily if a tortoise eats it, which they don't tend to do with hemp...one of the main brands is called Aubiose. It would be sold in farm supply shops or agricultural and...

    Introducing Flash

If you have an ikea nearby it's well worth looking at bookshelves/ wall cupboards/ kids wardrobes etc that are relatively cheap and can be simply adapted to a tortoise enclosure use...owning a tortoise is definitely about thinking outside the box...mine loves climbing the log hide which is a...
