    2019 Kinixys zombensis

WOW! Less than 3 months and a third grown already. Growing like a weed and obviously you're doing many things right. Beautiful and very spoiled baby you have.

    Giant torts in LA?

Absolutely correct. Myself included the vast vast majority of Gods creatures most of us will never see in person. I believe good zoos with good habitats and care are important for encouraging conservation programs and interest in nature.

    Giant torts in LA?

Not true at all. The SanD Zoo is a great place and very big and I've scratched the Galaps necks every time I've been there. They seem to love it. They have just a low wall about 3' or so along the front of their habitat and if you want to hang out awhile they'll come over and see you. Enjoy...

Foot pad scales worn off - what to expect long term?

I'd bet he wore it off trying to climb the cement blocks. If his back feet are also this way there's probably another problem.

Water Turtle Hatchling: Water Level and Substrate?

When I kept little H2O turtles I took them out to feed them in a shallow hand washing basin. You might want an under gravel filter to help keep the tank clean.

New Giant Mexican Musk - Staurotypus triporcatus + Name Suggestions

Most not quite that big. They come out at night when the ground is wet and pull mostly dead vegetation or grass clippings down into the ground. As a teen I'd water the lawn real good and then go out at night with a flashlight and coffee can hunting for them. Got a great back ache the first...

New Giant Mexican Musk - Staurotypus triporcatus + Name Suggestions

Regular small variety ones until they're big enough to eat Night Crawlers but not the ones that live in manure with thin white bands around them. These have a pungent unpleasant smell and I imagine taste lousy as well.

New Giant Mexican Musk - Staurotypus triporcatus + Name Suggestions

Sure doesn't look very giant to me. Feed Night crawlers and earthworms. Why mess with expensive messy pinkies and such things. Worms have all they need. Nice to see one with a closed mouth. Must be tame;). If they ever want to bite let them nibble on your fingers so they get it out of their...

(Not a tortoise) I have new wood turtles and concerned about shells

Has it occurred to you that dish soap is also very irritating to their eyes? I think you're being overzealous.

Really proud of my husband and I with Darth’s new enclosure

Great carpentry work but seems more like a coffin to me with no way to see in or out. No way to see your pets with out opening the lid. Kind of like keeping a pet in the refrigerator. I'm claustrophobic so would never build like this.

Found crossing busy highway near toll both. How old is he?m

Looking at her shell growth rings it looks like she put on more than half her size in her first year and is indeed very young.

    Tortoise sellers?

I have 2 male nogueyi you might have remembered. I got these girls in april '17 overnight shipped and they were cold and damp when I got them and was really concerned they might get sick. Fortunitely did not. So now am very concerned about shipping weather. Up at 30,000 is never warm and...

    Tortoise sellers?

Hey Tom, Thanks for the encouragement and information. The 3 Spekes I have are all female. One fully mature, another within 1/2 inch in size and my smallest about an inch smaller than the mature one. A keepers dream as they all started eating like real chow hounds as soon as I got them. These...

    Uvb light

"Tomatoes are fruit and are too sugary and also full of liquid." So why is liquid bad? Most if not all vegetable foods are largely H2O. When we soak our pets or give them H2O dishes isn't that for the H2O they'll drink besides the soaking? Why not get it from their food as well:confused:?
