    Baby radiata enclosure set up

I'll consider a bigger enclosure in a recent year or two. Also I have a small pyramiding with my radiata and already applied higher humidity policies to stop it. I've read on the forum information that extra Virgin Coconut oil might also help to halt pyramiding. Tom, do you personally recommend...

    Baby radiata enclosure set up

Tom thanks for detailed replies. I'll stick to the idea you've mentioned originally. I've increased the height of the lamp to 45 CM above the ground and put in on timer for 7 hours a day only. I'm planning to buy a solarmeter as well to figure out what are the levels of UV I do actually have...

    Baby radiata enclosure set up

Tom thanks for explanation. It's really hard to figure what's a perfect set-up of enclosure. The previous owner of my radiated tortoise recommended me Arcadia T5 12%, if I knew in advance I'll probably buy a 6% which gives milder UV index of 2.5 only at 50cm height. Also I'm already using an...

    Baby radiata enclosure set up

I'm keeping RH up by automatic spraying system. Humidity sensor is located just between two CHE. So enclosure is sprayed every 1 hour interval. Just a bit afraid of not creating too much dump in the enclosure

    Baby radiata enclosure set up

Thanks for replying. Another question I'm a bit confused. I do have Arcadia Pro T5 desert species lamp 12% and led light for overall light in the enclosure. In the care sheet it's mentioned 2.5 to 3 UV index. But how many hours a day do you normally run your UV lamp? Another confusion for me...

    Baby radiata enclosure set up

Another advice I'm looking at is about use of ceramic heaters. I've read a lot of information on the forum regarding basking lamps and their effect on pyramid of the tortoise shells. What do you think by using CHE and keeping the temperature underneath them up to 33c will it be enough for my...

    Baby radiata enclosure set up

Thanks for replies. Let say if I mount the uv lamp 45 CM above the ground and keep the uv lamp on for 6 hours a day will be good enough?

    Baby radiata enclosure set up

Hi everyone. Just got my baby radiata recently. I would like to confirm with experienced keepers if I'm doing OK with my tort. So I do have enclosure 140 × 60 x 50. Temperature is controlled by termoregulator and two ceramic heaters 100w each. Humidity is between 70 to 90%. Temperature...

    Aldabras in Russia

Are you residing in Moscow now? Frankly speaking I'm not happy with Russian beaurocracy either. sounds funny, but I'm almost sure that it's easier to import something to Russia then to export. We'll see how does it work, if I get success I might help you. So I believe that you interested...

    Aldabras in Russia

OK. The plan of action is following, once I arrive back to mother Russia, I'll try to contact owner of nature Park next to my place and check her experience with importing of aldabras from abroad. Then check with airport customs in Moscow. Afterwards when I know for sure what docs needed I'll...

    Aldabras in Russia

Thanks for info. I've just searched on Russian web, seems to be there's no private breeders locally. Also just a year ago a nature Park near my place ordered 4 juvenile aldabras from Mauritius. I'll try to contact them and see what they say. My point is even if I fly to Florida and by torts...

    Aldabras in Russia

I have an opportunity to buy locally, but I imagine that it's not from local breeders. Somebody buy torts in Thailand or so and then resell it in Russia. The only way for me to get aldabra here is to check with Moscow zoo, but I'm not sure yet if they sell any. flight time directly from...

    Aldabras in Russia

Well it's make things more complicated. Toucan jungle that's a website I've been looking at. It's not next door travel from Russia to Miami, anyway it not that easy as I expected. I'm able to find aldabras locally in Russia, but there's no guarantee on them where they coming from etc. Always...

    Aldabras in Russia

For sure that should be negotiated. I've found one breeder in California that said on his website that he does delivery worldwide. Technically there's a direct flight Miami to Moscow and if there's all paperwork in place it should not be any problem. I believe the case for the breeders is...

    Aldabras in Russia

Just looked through the Russian for. Seems to be that airport customs should be aware of what paperwork exactly needed, hope that it won't be hassle to get all paperwork to export torts from USA.

    Aldabras in Russia

I haven't gone yet in details regarding paper work. As far as I know aldabra breeders in USA should be able to provide all vet paperwork, I'm not sure what Russians want to see.
