Awe, sweet face! Make sure to screen potential owners carefully that they have the ability to keep him properly and not just want to turn around a make a buck. There are a LOT on craigslist so its a little hard to find.
Also contact your local CTTC (https://www.tortoise.org/cttc/adoption.html)...
I have had luck with it for crickets, but i do agree it is tenuous at best and doesn't last very long. I don't think you need to worry about it too much
That looks really nice, what are the dimensions?
First thing, though that water bowl is a potential hazard, they can flip over and drown. you should replace it with a terra cotta saucer you can get for $5+ at Home Depot or Lowes. What are the dimensions, and how old/what do you know about your...
What Tom said. What region of LA are you in? I am in Burbank and have just started to bring mine in at night because its getting below 60 outside. I have an indoor enclosure that I use as his "night box" or inclement weather location. Its supposed to be 90s again later this week so he'll be back...

I just wanted to address this one point because it’s sort of been sticking in the back of my mind. Just understand that very few tortoises are given up for rescue because they’re not “attractive”. they end up being not attractive due to very poor health often, but it’s not like the people who...
my experience with reptile rescues is fairly limited. I am following three right now - one beardie rescue in NYthat seems very genuine, one all reptile in CA that seems to have good intentions and to whom I have donated and who definitely does a lot of good but I’m waiting to see if she ever...
Do you have any experience doing rescue of any type? Good for you for doing this, but as someone who has been doing it 30 years know that there is a lot more involved than just opening your heart and having the space.
Believe me they will find you fast enough.
I agree with Setting up a plan in...
Look, I understand stuff like this is hard to hear, but one tortoise, sleeping on top of, near, snuggling with, anything like that is actually aggression. It would be cute if it were happening with mammals, but with reptiles, it’s a form of aggression and stress.
