A Not So Good Updste On Our Rescue Senua

You have "Tortoise Experts" telling you things that it seems are being ignored. As I said I will follow any updates closely as I am not familiar with this and it is a great learning opportunity. It is obvious this tortoise is suffering if it becomes to much of a financial toll or emotionally...

Needing to rehome Red foot Tortoise in Virginia

@Darthmaulsmom ... I sent you a PM but maybe I wasn't clear (I'm not the best of communicators). We are a rescue (Non profit 501(c)3) Tortoise well being is "What" we care about and do everyday. We would love to help and are even willing to pay shipping. Every Tortoise we are blessed to...

Looking for information on the size and suitability of 300-gallon Rubbermaid stock tanks

You can create an are outside the Rubbermaid tank for the nest. This of course would need fencing to keep them from going anywhere else.

A Not So Good Updste On Our Rescue Senua

Sorry but it is at the cost of this "Poor Tort." Whether you want to admit it or not this tortoise is suffering and will continue to suffer until "Someone" gets it right. A big part of learning is to to be able to admit failure, mistakes and wrong diagnosis. Just because you have seen worse...

A Not So Good Updste On Our Rescue Senua

There is a BIG change from pic 1 to the second pic, it seems the rot aggressively continued. I cannot imagine that it could continue much longer without it being fatal. Did you stop the antifungal treatment or did it just continue in spite of treatment? I will follow this and please keep us...

    Learning from Bay Area

@Janicoy ... Welcome. I as well live in CA but where it's dry, real dry. I would just say this 1 thing about your location. Are there native Tortoises in your area? No. As long as you understand that you'll have no problems understanding you will need to CREATE an environment that is...

Concerned about my African Sulcata (Ivory)

We have been told by dozens of people that their tort doesn't eat mazuri ... Bull Sh!t. We have been able to get every tort to eat large amounts of Mazuri that we have in the rescue with just a little patience and consistency.

Concerned about my African Sulcata (Ivory)

Soaked Mazuri EVERY day ... offer it but do not be discouraged if it takes a little time. We offer 3 foods and allow grazing for a more complete diet. If you offer 1-2 food items as well as the Mazuri and just discard whatever he doesn't eat you should see more improvement.

Concerned about my African Sulcata (Ivory)

@Valkorian .... I am not a expert but @TammyJ is giving you info that can help immediately. We soak our torts EVERY day, we live in between the Mojave Desert and Death Valley so I understand your humidity issues. Start soaking every day to ensure your little guy stays hydrated no matter the...

    Need help re: desert tortoise

This is GREAT NEWS. I hate for DT owners to lose their pet and never find or get him/her back. I have found that there is a good % of DT owners that develop real LOVE for them, sad when they lose them. Rock on Reggie !

    Need help re: desert tortoise

Yuk ... I do love my dry air and all the benefits of not having to worry about humidity or constant humidity.

    White flesh

Great ideas.... My concern is this.... If you have ever seen a person that has had to have adhesive on their skin constantly it causes damage. Example: If you had to have a band aid on your wrist all day everyday the skin eventually will start to fail. The skin will start to be irritated...

    Need help re: desert tortoise

GREAT ADVICE.... I wasn't aware you were in a "Coastal" temperature area.... that's a hard environment to keep them from getting sick. I once read @Tom talk about humidity and temp and how they interact well and bad with a tort. Cold (Below 75 degrees) with humidity is only going to cause...

    Flaky and cracked tortoise shell

Using Mazuri is a "Must" for the nutritional aspect. I do not worry about fast growth if feeding Mazuri due to it's nutrient content. If the growth is fostered by having a full spectrum of Vitamins, Minerals and correct protein I think the growth will be "healthy growth" and not much concern...

    Need help re: desert tortoise

@SinLA .... Could the nails being short be from wandering the concrete jungle? From what you are describing it sounds like a pet. At this time of year it should have no issues being outside always, less stress too. If you can not find the owner and decide not to be a new DT parent we of...

    Hi all, newbie here! :-)

@SassiPaws ... Welcome to the bestest Turtle and Tortoise place on Earth. I am not really an expert but do have some time under my belt of caring and housing for Turtles. My experience in taking in Turtles that are not used to Pellets or eating a "Man Made" diet is it takes time and patience...

    White flesh

We hope her story brings hope and an endless amount of educational info. So many torts could have an end to there suffering with the bridge technique used on her Plastron. Her eye will be a learning lesson some may find helpful for years to come.

    White flesh

This is the 1 thing that is holding me up. I am worried with her 4 wheel drive attitude that the "patch" might shift and touch the eye. We have allowed her to spend a little bit more time in her night box and get used to these changes. When I watch videos of her first days with us you can see...
