Am I taking care of my Redfooted Tortoise properly?

Sorry you already got this far but a cheep and easy way to cover the tank is to get some "poly sheeting" and some spring clips from the hardware store. Should be less than $5. One reason your temperature is struggling is because the water evaporating cools it off. Covering it up will keep the...

How much ventilation should an indoor enclosure have ? For humidity.

I'm also curious about how much air they need. Am understanding what people are saying correctly; if I have a reasonably air tight enclosure that opening it up for feeding once or twice a day is enough air exchange that they wont suffocate?

Cherry heads eating too much or too little?

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate the in depth responses. It really helps build a knowledge base. More foods it is. I had taken their weights a couple times already and so I took them again. Steady growth, and they are both the same weight and size, so I'm not worried about that any more.

Cherry heads eating too much or too little?

I was worried about over feeding them high calorie foods like fruit, which is where the schedule came from. Sounds like I don't have to worry about that? So when you say that food schedule has low variety do you mean: That's a low amount of different foods to have over the course of 2 weeks...

Hello, I have 2 cherry heads Cherry and Berry. They are the same age, about 5.5 in long. about a month ago we moved them to their new enclosures. With the new set up I changed to feeding them everyday and leaving the food in the enclosure all day. It took them a little while to get comfortable...

Cherry head season change and lighting advice

Pathos and Wall mounted pots sound like a good start. @ZEROPILOT That's a good point on food. I'll get a little more curious about what's in and yard and fridge. Good call on the effective UV height, I'll be sure to check what I have. I definitely have condensation on the windows, but its the...

Cherry head season change and lighting advice

The enclosure is a 6'x10' that's been split down the middle (so 2 3'x10's with no access between the two sides) that have one cherry head each. Its in a unused hot tub room that can take high humidity so I have a big ultrasonic humidifier pointed in the enclosures general direction. I think the...

Cherry head season change and lighting advice

Hello, I've moved cherry and berry into a new home (pictures attached) and I have some questions about lighting. Its fall here in MN and I noticed that they were slowing down and eating less, which seems like it's normal for cherryheads. I also have seen a lot of conflicting advice on basking...

First time tortoise owner with 2 cherry heads needs advice

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like I should separate them. I have room for 2 6'x11' enclosures. I've done some looking around and it sounds like that's big enough for an adult but let me know if I'm mistaken. They are currently 5in. How long till they need a their full sized enclosure? If...
