@LizzyLu Welcome to the forum. I just got a Redfoot recently. Ernest Johnson that @ZEROPILOT mentioned has a youtube channel, website, and a Udemy course for Redfoots. I was looking at Mike Pingleton's book on Amazon and think I might get for any additional information it might provide.
Hello all,
I noticed some unusual coloring on Gaius and Zeno. It is not soft. Those areas are hard like other parts of the shell and plastron. I am hoping it is just staining (I use coconut core and repti bark) or growth but I want to error on the side of caution and figure some of the more...
I did ask and he did said Ibera Greek tortoises. But humans lie or could be wrong. Burnout and depression also causes paranoia and I am afraid I am doing something wrong, especially when there is a lot of subspecies (variations might be better wording) and some in different environments.
I used the flash on this with Zeno. The one I tried with Gaius came out the same as the previous one. Gaius is the hungrier one, so I didn't want to take too long getting the pictures
I got two Greek tortoises that I think is ibera but want to verify. One has a little black on their stomach (can't spell the actual term) and the other has a bit more
The first pic is Zeno and the second one is Gaius. I have a separate tub growing grass and weeds for them and put them in there to graze while deep cleaning the enclosure. They didn't like it lol.
Yeah, they are hatchlings and they said they are about a month old. Too young to tell the sex yet. I have a screen on top and mist the enclosure every morning while soaking them after the spot clean-up. They love burying themselves when they are done eating.
@TaylorTortoise I got two baby Ibera Greek Tortoises there on Saturday. I had to prep a smaller enclosure since the main one is too big. One has scared me thinking he got breathing issues but the vet said he is ok and gave me some advice to follow.
I built a wooden one about 13 square ft (I am rounding down). I am in the same boat of which one to get (even after over a month of researching). I will need to build a bigger one when whatever type I get is older. I am going to a reptile show in my area tomorrow to see what Captive breeds...
careful where the glass is. In most of my research, it says to avoid having the wall being see-through (for the tortoise. above their sight is better). They don't understand the glass and keep trying to get through
Yes, I live in the area. I used to live closer to Philly, but I moved closer to Collegeville for work. I'll post pick if I get one from the show. I am a bit undecided between a western Hermann, eastern Hermann, or Russian tortoise.
Hello all,
I go by Gam, Gamtauru, or Joe. I don't have a tortoise yet but have built a tortoise table (more of a box really), been doing some obsessive researching the past couple of weeks, and getting some plants started to better feed them and include them in their enclosure. I am still...
