    It just looks like either light colored dirt or hard water stains. I'll bet it goes away with a good scrubbing. (that is, if I'm looking at the same thing as you)

    Scrub the dirt out of the seams with a toothbrush and warm water. Dry well then add your coconut oil. Allow it to absorb for about 15 minutes then polish it off with an absorbent cloth. It looks to me as if you have a dessicating light over your tortoise. Either raise it up or remove it.

    Sorry, I have to disagree. While the tips of the anal scutes do point straight back, a female trait, that's definitely a male tail. It could be he's still in the process of changing characteristics

    You'll have to pry his mouth open and see if he has something sharp in there. A tortoise's nostrils lead to the roof of the mouth.
