    Herpstat Probes

Hello all, I just purchased a Herpstat 4 and would like some ideas on where/how to install the probes. I'm trying to make sure the installation looks clean and that there aren't wires running everywhere. To start, how and where are probes typically placed? I'm thinking of using it to control...

    Herpstat 4 (Spyder Robotics)

I know this is an old thread now, but thank you for this write up. I am seriously considering a herpstat 4 currently. Can you share how and where you run the probes? I'm looking for proper placement and don't really want wires running everywhere if I can help it.

    Animal plastics instructions

Thanks for the suggestion. Ali was able to send them to me very quickly. I've shared it here in case anyone else is looking. The text of the file is as follows: Instructions for Assembling Your AP Cage It is very important that you follow the instructions as written. Your cage is machined...

    Animal plastics instructions

Hello. I am finally about to construct my animal plastics cage this weekend, and I cannot for the life of me find the instructions. If somebody has them handy, can they please post them here? I seem to recall it being just a single page of type text. Thanks in advance!

What percentage of hibiscus / rose etc.?

Thank you both! I am lucky to have probably the least picky tortoise on earth so pretty much anything offered is eaten readily. Other than wheat grass, is pretty much any non-pesticide or non-fertilized grass OK? is dry grass OK? I have this tough sort of small ornamental grass growing in...

What percentage of hibiscus / rose etc.?

Hello, I have a quick food question regarding a desert tortoise. I feed mostly the grocery store spring mix and supplement when I can with local weeds, cactus pads, and other greens such as dandelion greens and msutard greens. Recently Icam across an pretty much unlimited supply of rose...

    Animal Plastics T100

A word to the wise on anyone needing them to build you a cage, you MUST be patient. To be fair, last year, I knew there was a backlog of at least 12 weeks and told Ali that I wasn't in any kind of rush. It turned out to be a mistake, since I am here on week 43 still waiting. Honestly, I'm...

    Banned ip address?

Hello, I know this is old but the same issue happened to me this weekend. I was out "in the wild" of Southern California and wanted to log in from my phone to compare some photos of weeds. Got the IP Banned message.

    Animal Plastics LIghting Suggestions

The current occupant is a yearling CDT. I do try to get it outside as much as possible, but still, I'm sure not enough.

    Animal Plastics LIghting Suggestions

Thank you. What brand of RHP do you recommend and how is it mounted? Also for the fluorescents, do you have a length and output recommendation? I currently use a 24" HO T5 w/ Arcadia 12% and 6.5k Day-light passing through a screen, but this would be mounted to the ceiling.

    Animal Plastics LIghting Suggestions

Hello, while I wait for my AP cage, I was hoping to get some advice regarding lighting. The enclosure will be 84"Lx30"Dx24"H. I hope to have the UV mounted approx. 18" above substrate. What kind of output do I need? Also, for incandescent fixtures, how many and at what placement? I was...

Legos As A Material For Tortoise Enclosures

I think I may try to move over to the Duplo-style blocks eventually since they are bigger and a hide would require fewer blocks.

Legos As A Material For Tortoise Enclosures

Whoa! Depending on the cost of this, I may try to make a new stand out of these.

Legos As A Material For Tortoise Enclosures

Thanks! I have to repair it every few weeks due to the LEGO bricks not really holding up to them knocking into it etc. I may just hot-glue the bottom row to secure it.

Legos As A Material For Tortoise Enclosures

Here is an OK picture of it. I've been experimenting with trying to grow some succulents and other stuff in a tray on top so it is out of tortoise-reach and there are a ton of tillandsia that I just dumped in there as well but you can get the picture. It is basically just a square box, with a...

Legos As A Material For Tortoise Enclosures

I made a small hide out of LEGO bricks. It’s been a mixed bag. Works, but even a small tortoise can bust it up quite easily. I’ll post some pics tomorrow if I remember. I purchased a bag on eBay of random pieces and supplemented with some from the LEGO website.

    Unappealing tortoise-safe plants

Hello. I have a question regarding plants, especially for an indoor enclosure that I could not find a good answer to. Can anyone suggest any plants that are completely tortoise-safe plants and unappetizing? I have tried a few different plants, all on the tortoise table's "good" list and they...

    Animal Plastics Enclosure Stand

Hello. For those of you with an AP enclosure or similar, what do you use for a stand? I was thinking of trying to DIY one out of wood or black pipe for a more industrial look, but was wondering if there was a source I might be overlooking.

    Aeonium decorum?

Hi all. I have this growing in a pot in my backyard. Some photos look like Aeonium decorum and others some type of Echeveria. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

    Misting/Soaking Subtrate

Absolutely. My plan would be to measure the output of how much the system pumps say in 30 seconds. Then have it on a timer so every 48 hours or so it releases "X" amount of water into the enclosure. Enough keep the plants watered and help with humidity.
