    Tortoise Welfare Tracking Sheet

Thanks for sharing, Jamie! I'm going to mull it over for a while before I can give you much feedback. All of my shelled family are omnivorous (leaning toward carnivorous) turtles, vs. herbivorous tortoises... When I feed them wriggly things, there's often a quantifiable number attached to it...

inherited box turtle, can turtle grieve?

My box turtle does her own thing. On her own schedule. It's a good thing they're so charming and have such wonderful personalities, because they can easily drive you crazy (make you frustrated) if you let them. Especially in the winter, when they're less likely to be interactive (at all), eat...

    Our new kittens

Yep. They started out a handful...each. That was seven years ago. Two boys and two girls. Now three of them are 15 lbs and up! The males have HUGE builds. The fourth (a female) is in the 6 lb range.

    Our new kittens

They're adorable! The one on the right has tortitude! Torties can be... memorable... in the attitude department..... In a good way. :D

    Our new kittens

You're lucky you managed to rehome two of them. Twice in my lifetime (fortunately a couple decades apart), we had a litter of four kittens that each bonded to a different human member of the household. So we really couldn't break up the band... ;)

Error message, trying to upload pictures to a thread

I'm not sure if it's the same error message @Toddrickfl1 encountered, but apparently he was also having problems trying to upload pictures, too.

Error message, trying to upload pictures to a thread

"A server error occurred. Please try again later." Okay, it's polite, but it's getting in the way for the second day now. I just want to upload pictures to my thread in the water turtles section.

Spotted turtle hatchling has soft spots on plastron

This is one of the baby spotted turtles we bought in August. The other one seems to be doing fine, but this one has a couple places (symmetrical) where the plastron is soft. I'm wondering if it's shell rot or what... And how do I need to treat this tiny turtle? I'm going to try attaching...

ARAV lists reptile veterinarians in other countries as well as the U.S.

The question comes up often enough, I wanted to mention this for the next time someone is looking for a reptile veterinarian outside of the United States. Naturally, the availability and expertise of veterinarians varies by location. That being said, maybe this will help someone when they need...

Mycoplasma transmission from rodent to tortoise

Depending on how adamant @Curie is about tracking down that answer, I would suggest posing it to one of the universities with veterinary schools that specialize in exotics. I would also suggest contacting the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV). Their website is...

    Need advice RI outbreak.

Sorry I'm late to the thread, @Toddrickfl1. How are they doing, and what did you decide to do (if anything) about making any changes husbandry-wise?

    COLD DARK ROOM

Not moving as quickly as some of us would like... Although that isn't exactly a complaint here, as some of us would rather deal with bad weather during daylight hours. The storm has slowed down again, but it's too disorganized to strengthen. Tropical storm warning continues... I live a bit east...

    Target training?

I'm surprised @Tom hasn't weighed in on this one yet... I'm trying to remember if he's the one who mentioned target training a snake at one point.

    COLD DARK ROOM

Hello all! I haven't been online much lately, but I wanted to drop in and let you know I'm okay... We're okay... Household is okay right now. Mostly just waiting out Mother Nature at this point. Tropical storm force winds should be arriving here after midnight. This one should move through...

It does make sense, in an intuitive kind of way. :)

    COLD DARK ROOM

I get that. After a couple decades of recurring bouts with major depression, I'm finally starting to get used to NOT being depressed. (You guys get part of the credit there, I think...) I'm trying to establish a new (revised) baseline for myself, without meds, and gradually add back in any...
