Need help sexing juvenile Mud turtles

I am looking for opinions on the sex of two roughly 3.5 inch Red cheek mud turtles. I can obviously tell the difference when they are full grown but I’m having a hard time telling, but I think they might be both males. Then I start seeing a lot of differences in the shell shape though, and...

    Yearling Red Cheek

Just got a new little one today Little one is happy and seems healthy. Pretty hungry already. I just couldn’t resist, he/she is a neat one. Once she gets a little bigger I’ll be able to tell the sex. I’m hoping it’s a female but either way I’m happy.

Do you think this cruentatum female has some albogulare blood in her? I’ve read that a curve in the hinge tells the difference? And more distinct keels also. What do you all think

    How old is this turtle?

Ok thanks. He looked like he had some age to me! He’s a really neat turtle, I enjoy keeping him. I should also Mention I do recommend T and T. I really have no issues with t and t I’m happy with my turtles. I feel bad about his beak and the small hole on the outer edge of his carapace. but...

    How old is this turtle?

This is my male red cheeked mud I haven’t had him for long. Wondering how old you all might think he is? he is captive bred (from what I am told) and I got him from turtles and tortoises inc. my female Red Cheeked mud turtle laid her first clutch since I’ve owned her. Total of 3 eggs. Exciting for me but I honestly don’t even know if they are fertile. I’ve never had a turtle lay eggs before so first time doing this. It’s been a great learning process and I’m hoping my other female...

Captive info for red-cheek mud turtles

Thanks for that. I’ve only owned this species for about a year so all the information is helpful and very intriguing! I’ve always been wary with what I feed them, but continuously giving them Mazuri is not ideal. Today they ate cooked Maine Lobster and loved it. I’ll have to incorporate more...

“Foods for red-cheeks have included various kinds of pellet food designed for tropical fish, pellets made for aquatic turtles, frozen fish foods of various kinds, shrimp, whole live fish, parts of fish (or lobster!)” can you use cooked lobster? I’ve heard cooked chicken isnt good for most...
