Hi, great question and I totally agree with what you're saying! I purchased my tort from a pet store because I didn't know the difference between wild caught and captive bred. It was certainly a rookie mistake that I will not make again! I understand so much more now and if I desire another...

My russian has a small enclosure and does fine. Some torts are just pickier than others! I purchased some tort food at a pet supply store yesterday and it wasn't very well received. Please continue to offer up new foods and see what happens. You will eventually hit the jackpot!

Anyway you could try to make room for him in your new place? Always better if they can stay with their owners. I live in a tiny place but I make it work.
It has certainly helped me out. I need this site to help me care for my tort properly. If you try to look stuff up on your own you get conflicting and confusing info.
Oh sorry, I just reread your post. I'm guessing you grow some of your own food and purchase the remainder?
