    The Tortoise and the....Cat!?

I have found some neighborhood stray cats run out of my torts enclosure in the winter. I don't blame them. My tortoise comes out with cat hair all over him. It's cute. Mine has never had any problems and very few diseases are zoonotic so hopefully as long as the cat doesn't chew on the tortoise...

I want to grow food for my tort

So in the winter I really cant grow much outside but what do you think about growing Microgreen Sprouting Mix inside and feeding it to them? If this is a good idea, what seeds would you recommend? I see seed mixes and seeds sold individually available for sale. Any thoughts? Thanks

    New sulcata owner, advice needed.

So I have insulated the walls and roof of the house. Door flaps to keep the heat in. I have a radiant heat panel being delivered in the next couple days. So my question: at night I go out and find Gertrude at the other end of the turtle yard in the corner. Is it he just gets lazy or cold and...

So the house is pretty big and I can make a door for it. I just put my hand between the pad and tortoise and it's not too hot at all. Seems really pleasant.

    New sulcata owner, advice needed.

He is about 3 times the size of my desert tortoise. I'm guessing 25-30#. He was found wandering near a busy street and no one has claimed him or been looking for him. I don't have a door on the house. Didn't even think of that. The heating pad is: Dog Palace Dog Floor Heater - Large I guess I...

    New sulcata owner, advice needed.

Hi there, can I pick your brain? So my sulcata is outdoors and has a house with a heating element. I got a hard ground pad that I can set it to any particular temp. What do you suggest? I have it on 100 degrees. Gertrude stays on it when in the house even though I have it only on one side. Do...

    Hello from Phoenix, Arizona

Hello there, question since you live in PHX. Are you concerned with the unusually warm fall we are having? My tortoises are still grazing and I can't stop them but if it gets really cold fast will that be bad? I know I've lost a water turtle from it waking up during a warm spell and go back to...

    Hello from Phoenix, Arizona

That's exactly how it happens. I had a box turtle so I made a small water " pond" because they actually loved to swim. Someone dropped a red eared slider on me so I had to make the pond bigger. Then the desert tortoise because someone left it behind when they moved. The sulcata was because it...
