hi, I’m interested in purchasing a adult red footed tortoise at a expo later this month. I really want someone who raises them to give me some info on temps and humidity for an adult, substrate , food , water, soaks, etc?
I’m thinking about adopting this sulcata. Me and my husband recently lost our hatchling due to a bad vet. This sulcata is said to be 15 years old. The owner said he kept him in a room with a ambient temp of 80 degrees. Does he look big enough for 15? Is his pyramiding bad?
Also the vet gave me ciprofloxacin hydrochloride ophthalmic soilion to put in his nose twice daily for 10 days in case he has a upper respiratory infection.
hi, I recently posted about my baby sulcata who recently started losing skin on his back foot and his tail. He was at the vet a week or two before this happened. The vet took blood work which came back fine and gave him a vitamin A and calcium injection. I’ve been soaking him daily and cleaning...
my temps are at 90 and the ambient temp is 80. I have a 10.0 uvb light in the enclosure. I use coco coir substrate. I use a humidifier which makes the humidity about 60% ( I’m in the process of bringing the humidity up just having a hard time keeping the temps high with high humidity ) I have...
I was soaking my baby sulcata tortoise and I decided to clean his face with a q-tip cause it was stained dark green and now there’s white spots? I uploaded a couple photos.
Another thing the vet said to me was that his shell seemed soft to her. He’s definitely under 6 months of age. He’s getting uvb and calcium powder on his food. Is it normal to have a softer shell at this age or should I be worried?
The temp on the basking side is about 100 and the opposite side is about 80 right now. I called another vet and they told me he doesn’t need high humidity?? I’m so confused. They said a sulcata tortoise is from the dryest part of Africa where is rarely rains.
Ok so they gave him the calcium and vitamin A shots a sub q fluid shot and took blood. Waiting on the blood results. They also gave me medicine to put in his nose cause they think he might have a upper respiratory infection but if the blood count comes back high they want to do a different...
i have a baby sulcata tortoise. I received him in October at a exotic pet show. I’ve done some research on this forum to get the environment correct but I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing still. My substrate is coco coir. I have a 10.0 uvb bulb which is 18 inches long. I have a 150 watt...
