    ID help please!

But I was already suspicious about which species it was, so I figured I would start there, then figure out the legality of it. I think I'll look into a rescue organization. I just happened to come across that ad and I couldn't resist.

    ID help please!

That was going to be my next question if it turned out to be a desert tortoise. I was pretty sure there was some laws regarding the selling of this species, and I certainly wouldn't want to do something illegal.

Is chia (Salvia hispanica) safe for tortoises?

Is chia (Salvia hispanica) safe for tortoises? I thought about getting a Chia Pet for my tortoises enclosure as his Christmas present, but wanted to make sure it was safe first. When I put the scientific name into the Tortoise Table it says it's safe, but the picture looks like a flower. Thanks

    Tortoises Christmas Presents

That's a really good idea. My box turtle will be especially pleased with some fruit. When I first got him I gave him fruit way way to frequently. Then I found this forum and a local Turtle and Tortoise club and learned that fruit isn't good. So I stopped giving fruit, but I'm sure as a once...

    Tortoises Christmas Presents

It's that time of year again! Christmas! And per my usual MO I haven't finished shopping yet. All the humans are done, but I still haven't got any thing for my shelled babies. So, I am wondering what do you all get your tortoises for Christmas? Do you get them anything at all? I have a...

Turtle is streatching neck, gaping, and making the sound!

I'm really glad he's still doing well. It sucks he had some bad days, but I'm happy he perked up, even if it wasn't nasally pleasant. You might have posted the answer to this and I forgot. Did you ever get a firm diagnosis on The Turtle? I hope you, your family, and The Turtle have a happy...

    New Turtoise Mom

I've always used a terracotta plant saucer for water when they're small and a reptile water bowl big enough to soak in when they're adults, so don't know if a heater would be needed for the water. But I love the idea of what you've done with the water area. I'm glad he's eating now. All my...

    New Turtoise Mom

Hi Fred! Gorgeous set up! The only thing I'd recommend is to keep a close eye on your new baby with the smaller rocks. The ones in the picture where he/she is under the hide. I know from experience that box turtles love to put everything in their mouths, they're worst than 2 year olds. They're...

    New Turtoise Mom

I have an adult male box turtle named Juliet. For a long time I was told it looked like a she based on her underside and tail length. But one day she decided to show me her man parts. (Scared me because I thought my girl prolapsed a colon). So from now on I will definitely be waiting untill eggs...

    Calendar Contest Voting

Congratulations to the winners! They were all so amazing. Photo 3: I have been dying to know what species is your tortoise? He/She has arguably the most beautiful coloring and patterns that I have ever seen in a tortoise. (I'm super jealous, I want one, whatever he/she is!!!)

What are Your Plans in Case of Emergency?

Today seems to be the worst for air quality, the smoke is quite horrible. Thought I am very thankful smoke is all I have to deal with, it could be much much worse.
