They need need heat and ugh. Mercury bulbs cover both, but for my Russian tortoise, I have her with a heat bulb and uvb tube in one tortoise table in order to provide light over the entire enclosure and at the same time give her the temp gradient along with the uvb.
The healthier one suddenly not earing is a little concerning. Separate them as was suggested before and tend to them separately as per their separate needs. Pedialyte is awesome for all kinds if animals to rehydrate, not just humans. Definitely start there and with the baby food as it is easy to...
She was nervous about the dragons at first, but warmed up to them fast and even took over one of them. It is now one of the most spoiled animals here. She even books the dragons nose on her nose. Makes me nervous when she does it, but she hasn't been bit in the two years she has done it, so I...
We have a large dog, small dog, one cat, two bearded dragon, the Russian tortoise and soon the python. Gotta love our wives. Mine hates snakes, but agreed to me getting it. She refuses to touch or feed it, but I can live with that.
Yes, the same to you and your family. They are awesome reptiles. I am looking to get my first ball python when our tax return finally gets here and then that's it. Wife made me promise the python would be the last one.
Congratulations. My wife is also expecting. Our daughter is due in June, about two weeks after my son's birthday. I like your setup. When it comes to the bearded dragon, I am closer to expert, but when it comes to the Russian tortoise, I am more of a beginner. I changed my uvb from the compact...
My Russian Tort had a little bit of shell rot when I bought her from the pet store, but it looked different from what seems to be on your sulcata. I put antifungal cream on the bad areas for a couple days and then I put trip me antibiotic ointment on it for about a week until it was gone and...
Yes. She appears to be a female due to the asterisk shaped area under her tail, but from what I understand, both sexes will have that until the reach sexual maturity. Her shell is 4 1/2 inches long, but I know it is difficult to determine age based on shell size.
Thank you for the advice. I didn't know that about the uvb bulb. I did however move the hide to the cool side today. I'm glad I did now. Lol. The water bowl I actually took out two days ago because it was taking up too much space, glad I did that too. Thanks again for the advice and compliment...
So far I have one uvb and one heat bulb on one side of the enclosure. I want to add more light to the cold side, but don't want to over do it. I have an led light bar I could use, but it is pretty bright and don't want to blind my tortoise.
