Found a quail chick. Any suggestions?

For food you want to get some sort of a crumble feed. Ideally you’d be able to find a game bird starter with 30% protein (roughly). You can get some feeds at tractor supply, but they don’t all carry the same stuff. If needed you can take that food and grind it up further to make it easier for...

    My Latest Endeavor...

On the forum here we really do not like hybridzation, but in falconry it is usually done with a purpose. Different falcons have different hunting styles. Some are known for waiting on over head and stooping on their prey (peregrine falcon), some are known as tail chasers (prairie falcon). So if...

Zovick has a breeders information listed on his profile page where someone was asking the same question. He lives near Atlanta somewhere I think. My two are currently the size of softballs... so it’s going to be a long while before I may or may not have some. I don’t even know what genders I...

In search of breeder for leopard tortoises

I appreciate you @Tom thinking of me, but I don’t have any 2020 leopards left :(. Hopefully @Gijoux or @Kapidolo Farms can get @Alexhalbert12 headed in the correct direction.

    Potato Peels

With 10 lbs peeled, I’d imagine there’s enough to go around. Some for you and a lot for the roaches.

Tortoise table says no... https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/plant-database/viewplants/?plant=718&c=8#.XwIzCCVq0lQ I think your only options would be composting or roach/cricket food.

    Delivering Tortoises via FedEx

FYI- I’ve asked my local Walgreens about this- they don’t do that hold for pickup thing for live animals.

I have to say, from one falconer to another- you do an excellent job describing falconry for everyone. It takes time and effort to put these posts together, and you do it very well. I feel falconry is well represented and I appreciate what you are doing.

    2020 leopard tortoises available

I have 13 hatchling leopard tortoises (P. pardalis babcocki) available. The largest are about 3 months old and the smallest are 2-3 weeks old. All of them have been raised in a closed chamber with high heat and humidity to help give them the best growth possible. They receive frequent soaks and...

    My Latest Endeavor...

Make sure to look at juvenile redshoulder photos. Adults have a red breast and “shoulder” coloration. (the red colored shoulder is actually the birds wrist area, but when they have their wings tucked up for perching it looks like their shoulders) Peregrines are in Florida during certain times...

    My Latest Endeavor...

It’s hard to be 100% sure from the photo, but it looks like a juvenile redshouldered hawk. Generally redtails won’t perch on the wire like that. Their feet are to big for it to work comfortably. Red shoulders have much smaller feet and perch on wires frequently.

    Chameleon concerns

Chameleons are really cool. Several years back I had a veiled. He was never very tame, but was still awesome, as long as you were ok not touching him. He would still eat out of my hand, as long as you didn’t try to pick him up. When I was at the zoo we had some Mellers that we got to work with...

    Problems with hawks

I second @Tom’s comments. I’ve had hawks around tortoises (or tortoises around hawks) for many years. The hawks have never shown any interest in the tortoises. They will however show interest in other types of animals, such as mice or rabbits. Not to say it isn’t possible that a hawk took your...

Female tortoises having a flexible plastron at adulthood

Several years ago I remember looking into what constrains egg size (we were looking at size of egg vs number of eggs). I remember an article about this subject- I’m pretty sure that this is the one I was thinking of- link is below. The part of interest starts at the bottom of page 1349 “Shell...

    PLEASE HELP, LOST TORTOISE

Don’t give up, keep looking. Do a search on the forum for lost tortoise stories. There are tons of examples of this happening and people being reunited with their beloved torts days and even months later. The longest I’ve ever heard of is 10 years. This is of course somewhat dependent on what...
