Kamp Kenan encouraging people to keep different species together with tortoises :(

I knew/know nothing. Was researching for my first tortoise and saw his uTube on the species I was researching. Watched the first 3 minutes and turned it off. He very obviously wasn't the experienced source of knowledge I was looking for. Neither are most of the posts that come up on an...

    New Rescue Yellowfoot

He looks so much better and his eyes are brighter! The poor thing. He was obviously horribly treated and neglected. I think he hates people, not you. Who could blame him? I think they are intelligent and he will see that yes you are handling him but his life gets a little better each time...

    New Rescue Yellowfoot

Poor boy. Must have trouble breathing while eating. No wonder he was aggressive. Time to make him weed smoothies? I don't know that they are subspecies or if the pet trade animals just got smaller and rounder in captivity. If you do a search, there is info out there.

    New Rescue Yellowfoot

His head looks like the description they give of the "true Amazon Basin" yellow foot as opposed to a "regular" yellow foot.

Stork arriving with baby yellowfoot on Wednesday

The only thing I can find locally in a UVB 5.0 is the Reptisun 5.0 UVB 13 Watt mini compact fluorescent. It isn't the spiral but it is awfully bright. The only fluorescent tube I can order on line from Amazon.ca is a UVB 3% and that will take weeks to get here. I did buy a small hostas that...

    Another crisis (Ants)

I had a yard that was half fire ant hill because there were a lot of fruit trees. I used the "erupting volcano" recipe from the kids science fairs. Sprinkle the ant hill liberally with baking soda and then pour concentrated white vinegar (from Home Depot, etc not food grade) on it. The...

It would need a closed bottom or the water just runs into the substrate but I would think anything that wouldn't melt or off gas that had a bottom would work. That one is bamboo 6"

I thought it was too bright and too hot too, so I knocked it down to a 75W because I thought they needed it for D3 production. The large dome is a CHE that is on at night. Do you have a pic or a UVB Tube?
