How likely is it this tort has mbd?

Omg that squished shell makes me want to cry. I can’t believe someone would let their baby get that bad. Thankfully this one seems like it’s no where near “bad” so I’m gonna take my chances. My son’s first tort was a sulcata hatchling that had been raised dry and despite my best efforts as soon...

How likely is it this tort has mbd?

Yeah that’s what I’m reading right now. And apparently i was mixed up on how this species is supposed to look. The way they were keeping this tort with the lights sitting on the screen still concerns me, but the girl has only had it for about 3 months so hopefully not long enough to cause damage

How likely is it this tort has mbd?

Thanks guys. I don’t know if the shell is soft. It’s just a baby I saw online and knew I could certainly do better, but then kinda freaked a little bit when I noticed in one of the other pics that the shell looked very high and narrow compared to the perfect specimens I’ve seen on here. :)

How likely is it this tort has mbd?

Given the attached photos, how likely do you think it is that this leopard has mbd? I’m considering rescuing it and want to know ahead of time what I would be getting myself into. The high hump to the shell concerns me but I don’t know if that’s because I’m not that familiar with this species...

Thoughts on new russian burying itself constantly?

I found this thread about the bulb you are using. It’s the same as the bad coil ones. https://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/uvb-coil.109393/#post-1018367

It looks like you're using a clamp lamp. Please be sure its properly secured before you leave. They're a major fire hazard, especially with newspaper "substrate"

    Moral/Ethical Business Dilemma

I know this is all resolved now but since no one gave a differing opinion, I'm going to play devil's advocate for a minute. Is it possible the temps during shipping played a role? I've read numerous times on here that babies should always be at at least 80 degrees. 64 seems pretty low in...

Wow, a lot of great info. Thanks guys. I learn so much from you well known members, even with simple questions.

    Alfalfa- ok or not?

I'm confused. According to tortoise table, alfalfa is not ok. But the sulcata diet sheet says it is. So which is it?

I noticed this light only provides UVA and heat, no UVB. Could that be part of the problem?

    Is this normal (baby's plastron)

There's not really anything in particular. I "rescued" the tort a few days after my son got him because he had not found this site and was therefore following the wrong advice (open chamber, not enough humidity, coil uvb bulb, etc). I've tried to follow all of tips on the posts that you guys...

    Is this normal (baby's plastron)

Thank you for the reassurance. I don't have any more pics of his plastron right now, but will get some when I get home from work today. Here is a top view. I'm pretty sure he was soaked daily, but could be wrong. (I will post more details later as needed)

    Is this normal (baby's plastron)

Could someone please tell me if this looks normal for a baby sulcata? I've probably read too many posts on hatchling failure syndrome and am making myself paranoid, but I can't find any pics of other torts with similar plastrons. (Sorry if the pic is kinda blurry, was trying to hurry and get...
