When I woke up this morning and go check on my tort, I found that a piece of scale on its head had fallen off. That scale had been hanging onto its original spot for months and movable. I didnt try to pull it off as that could hurt my tort.
This is how it looks like now. Will the scale grow...
Hi all. So I've been using coco coir for quite a while and realized it's way too messy, so I'm thinking of changing my substrate choice. Any recommendations for my 2 year old sulcata?
Also, I have this Beech wood chips, I wonder if I can make use of them?
So I found out that there are wounds at these areas shown below. I don't know how Rover got them and I'm paranoid. Its appetite is normal, no lethargy. Not sure if it's painful or not. Any idea what could be happening? Should I go to a vet for safety measures? (Couldn't be substrate stuck there...
I may be overly paranoid, but I'm not sure if the pale yellow stuff around the eyeball area is something that should concern me. Could it be a sign of parasite? Or something else? Or is it normal?
It eats just fine. Absolutely huge appetite. It sees just fine, doesn't bump into anything when...
Hey all. So I have as few questions about sulcata husbandry.
First is about soaking. Rover is 4 months until 2 years old. Is it necessary to keep on with the daily soaks? Also, during soaking, do I have to scrub its limbs and shell?
Second is about something I read online. They say letting any...
So we all know about the recent outbreak of coronavirus in China. I know that some diseases only take effect on humans and not torts and vice versa. But I'm worried that this coronavirus will have adverse effects on torts like they do on us humans. Does anyone have a clue?
I hope everyone can...
Hey all. So I've been noticing that Rover doesnt eat the food *by itself*. What I mean is that Rover rarely ever goes towards the food bowl and start eating, it's not due to its lack of appetite, as I anticipated, as when I put it near the food bowl, it starts devouring all the food in the food...
Hey all, it's been a long time since I last posted. So anyway, I just noticed some spider webbing in a corner of the enclosure. I'm not sure whether I should address it or not. I think the reason it decides to settle in the enclosure is due to the upcoming winter and there are fruit flies in the...
This fluid just came out of Rover. I have no idea what this is. Theres no way this is semen as Rover is only a year old. Could this be liquid urate or something? I'm really concerned. Any idea what this actually is?
Rover haven't pooper for 4 days straight. I dial it in warm water of about 30c everyday for at least an hour. Today I even soak it for 2 hours, but no poop came out. I'm worried. Is there something I can give it to eat to improve this situation? Or anything else? Thanks in advance.
There is a reptile museum here in one of the town parks. However, I don't think the conditions for these reptiles are up to standard, especially for the torts. I've taken some pictures of all the reptiles and their enclosures. What do you think? (In the 11th picture there is a tort in the hide)
My cutie Rover (I changed the name) is almost a year old! I'm so glad it's been thriving and it seems to be able to recognize me. I gave it a bigger hide and a bigger soak dish. I sure hope it likes them!
It's now about 350g and 5 inches (I hope this is normal for how old it is).
And to...
Hey all. So my sully hasnt egested for 3 consecutive days. I soak it with warm water every day for about an hour. Is this possibly caused by impaction? I'm really worried. What can I do to help it?
PS its appetite is normal (it eats a lot still) and I couldn't find any manure in its enclosure
I know changing substrate is for keeping the enclosure clean. But do I still need to do it when there are a big number of springtails inside the substrate?
