What are peoples views on hibernation? I am yet to hibernate my 3 year old Hermans tortoise.

My herman tortoise is three years old and never been hibernated. I have only had him for 4 months. Should I wait until next year to hibernate him? Thanks.

I have an ifared heat bulb for my Hermans..is it nesesary to leave it on all the time?? Currently it comes on 7am until 7pm. Then again at 1am until 4am. It's particularly cold tonight, the lowest temp reading in the table is 57 fahrenheit

Just wondering if anyone else has the heat source and vbv plugged into an extention cord? They are on a timer plug too. Is it safe?
