But, to answer the question about attitude. Yes. They have an attitude if you change up things, at least mine does. Not sure how to describe it but he pouts.
Yep agree about the Miner-all Sheldon did this last year when we put him outside, so we started to dust his food with it and it helped. He will still do it once and a while, but not all the time. We just try to sprinkle it on once or twice a week depending on what we observe.
Lol, we inherited our Sheldon from our niece who had the original name Shelly, cause you know...she was 6. So when we got Sheldon, and realized she was actually a he, we just went with it....but that being said, we also love Big Bang Theory, so it worked.
When we’ve left for a week long vacations we left Sheldon with a trusted tort sitter but bringing his whole tort table is not realistic. We got him a smaller tort house and tried to set up up similar to his current layout, made sure he had a hide, food bowl, water etc. he did absolutely fine...
Thanks for the detailed response. I will admit we want to have a normal life for Sheldon but the hibernation process scares us. We wanted to have a full year with him to better understand all his cycles, that being said next year we were going to research hibernation. Just nervous. I have...
Thanks Tom, Sheldon has also slowed down, only coming out a couple times a week to eat and we give him a soak. This is our first winter with him, and we want to make sure this is normal. We have his table at 95F on the hot and 72F in his cool side with his hide, we are doing our best to keep...
Agreed with Yvonne, doesn’t sound like anything I’ve heard. When Sheldon rubs his face like that, it is normally because something is stuck on his face (food or substrate) and he might sneeze but never heard him make that sound before, especially with the way she was opening her mouth. Have...
This is the right place to get advice. Sheldon was acting the same, and I started to attribute it to the change in weather. I research a couple of older posts about ensuring the lighting was correct (brightness and angle) to make sure your little guy isn’t trying to hibernate. Not sure if...
Sheldon’s neck was a little flaky and dry last week. I increased spraying down his enclosure and sprayed the back of his neck once a day, along with his soaks. It cleared right up. I’m sure if you post a picture the experts can tell you if it is just normally pealing or not.
Hi Charlie, I’m sure one of the moderators will have some questions, about you setup conditions and they can give you very specific advice, but I would move the enclosure away from the AC unit. Do you have any pictures of your setup? Here is a link to the care sheets, this really helped me...
Yeah, we planted the seed mix from the Tortoise Table, and he stomps over those when he sees spurge. I think he knows he will get in trouble, it’s like he hides it, lol. They are smart for sure.
Wow, that’s scary, glad I asked, we will keep pulling them, they are hard to kill. Hopefully the times I’ve caught Sheldon, it didn’t harm him. Thanks for the Quick response!
Looking to see if anybody can identify this weed. They are in Sheldon’s outdoor enclosure, and I’ve been picking them, because he is obsessed with eating them. If I knew what they were maybe I wouldn’t care, but they keep coming back like....well weeds...any thoughts?
We planted the same mix in Sheldon’s outdoor enclosure, and got a section in the garden for picking for the winter when it comes. But yeah, he stomps over it too! It grows really fast.
