Need To Rehome My Russian Tortoise (TX) FREE

Hi everyone. I would like to adopt out my male Russian tortoise, Urkel. He was given to us several years ago by someone in the family. In the last few months I've realized, as I have been researching to better his care, and weighing that with my commitments, that I can no longer take care of him...

    Dirt Vs Sand

I know that this was thread was from several years ago so I wanted to ask if Lowes still sells that orchid bark? I am looking it up online and it isn't coming up. This brand you are talking about is ALOT cheaper than what I may have to get...

Hi! Russian tortoise owner new on the forum.

Huh. I wonder what pine shavings could even be used for if it is toxic for animals. Maybe there is some other purpose for it.

Hi! Russian tortoise owner new on the forum.

Good to know. Thank you! Question out of curiosity... you may not know the answer to this because it is more on animals in general. Would you say that pine would also not be wise to use for small mammals or chickens? Would it be toxic for them as well?

Hi! Russian tortoise owner new on the forum.

Cool. Thanks for the links! I guess here is a question. We realized recently that we needed to change the substrate in his enclosure. Temporarily we are using pine shavings that we already had on hand for our other animals. What would you suggest would be a cost efficient substrate that would I...

Hi! Russian tortoise owner new on the forum.

My tortoise was given to my family a few years back when a family friend had to move and needed to find him a new home. My sister took car of him for a while and now we both kind of do it together trying to make the arrangement for Urkel the best we can with what we have.
