@LaSunshine I'm no expert, but I have always thought that a display case would be a great option for a tortoise enclosure while the tortoise was small. Just make sure the flooring is waterproof....put vinyl floor or somethign in to line it...and make sure you keep the humidity and temps right...

Yes....they do that when they are breathign normally.....Usually it is both front legs....Nothign to worry about at all! :)

If you can get one from a breeder or reptile show, you are usually better off. if you don't have that option in your area, check out the breeder list on this forum for some safe options. Russians are a great type of tortoise to start with! They are sturdy and personable, and they stay small...

Congrats on your new Russian! They are great little tortoises....very sturdy and full of personality. Fresh greens are great, and hibiscus leaves and flowers are an awesome treat if you have access to it. Don't hesitate to ask questions....lots of folks here are willing to help in any way we can!

You could be right! He is way more friendly than most other leopards I have been around....of course, he was raised as a single tortoise and fed by hand most of his life. He is used to being around people all the time, so that might have somethign to do with it as well. Either way, we love...
