You all may know I adopted the dog-chewed RT that Yvonne posted about a few days ago. Here are some photos of Crash taking his first soak at home. He drank ALOT, soaked for 20 minutes and now he's happily chomping down some breakfast:D He's a welcome addition to our family:)
Crash (I'm a...
I love a variety of music. Until recently I fought off the IPOD, but last Christmas I got one and found myself putting my old favorites on it to work out by rather than new tunes. My faves are Boz Scaggs, Tower of Power (love What is Hip and Bump City) Aretha Franklin (how did Carole King feel...
Hi Everyone!
The storm that raced through California yesterday left our biggest, beautiful Elm tree in tatters, wrecked the lattice fencing in the tort pens and blew off the covering over our mini horses's feed stall (that tarp covering has lasted through 5 previous years of windy stormy...
This is our new yearling - a S. pardalis pardalis. We have named him/her "Moose" but I know its too soon to tell so we might just be calling her "Minnie." This is my first experience with one so young but he/she is very active, eating well and his plumping works well so I hope he/she ends up...
Well, I still have some tweaking to do, but now Bump and Tank have plenty of grazing without depending on me to let them out for a romp every day.
We added a fence and used retaining wall bricks to split the areas.
Okay - after reading all the enclosure posts that didn't use greenhouses, I decided this last weekend to remove Tank's greenhouse rather than spend more $$ for one for Bump's (quarantined for a few more months and I can use the old greenhouse to grow weeds:rolleyes:). I use a rubbermaid shed...
I want to understand exactly what "scute loosening" means so I know when/if it happens.
In an article on her site Misty Corton writes about shell care and of checking for scutes loosening (...."at the same time examine shell for any defects or signs of scutes lifting. Any loose scutes...
I asked this under products, but let me re-phrase the question because I would like some input on this type of product:
I am concerned a bit with the openess/exposure of the heating fixtures used for CHEs or Black bulbs in an outdoor shelter.
What type of heating fixture does...
While shopping for a larger outdoor shelter I came across this Hound Heater that installs in the upper corner of a doghouse/kennel or pet shelter. Has anyone ever used this? If so, please let me know your "review" of it. It is encased in galv.steel and uses either ceramic emitters or fusion...
Had to share how excited we are about our newly adopted healthy, vigorously active 4 year old Leopard male, tentatively named "Bump" (thanks to my 6yr old grandson in response to seeing the Leopard carapace on "Bump" - higher, rounder than Tank's). He's adjusting so well and is very curious.
I've probably seen them and not realized it, but does anyone have a photo or a link to one that shows an adult Leopard pardalis pardalis and an adult pardalis babcocki? I'm wondering if there is a difference in appearance between the two in adulthood... Also wonderin' if my Tank is pardalis...
Hi Everyone,
I recently joined this forum and while expanding Tank's outdoor enclosure, we realized we had room and desire for a second Leopard tortoise - any recommendations where to start the search? We're in a rural area near Modesto, CA (Central Valley).
Thanks,
Sandy
Hi Everyone,
I've been enjoying the posts and learning more than I thought imaginable. We are owned by a Leopard tort named Tank who came to us nearly a year ago because he was no longer wanted. He enjoys outdoor living in a large pen with a heated enclosure in the Central Valley of...
