    Found you all again!

I shall try - Bailey isn't too bothered about being handled but Ziggy is less co-operative. You can almost hear the shrieks of indignation and horror: "Put me down! Someone call the authorities! My turtles rights are being violated!" 😄

    Found you all again!

I've had several people tell me they are Musk turtles, but also I've had folk ponder over the fact they may be Mud turtles! What I'd like to know is how can one tell the difference between Mud and Musk? 🤔🙂 Also, are they ladies, or gentlemen? 😁

And here's two just of Zigs to show you the plastron (breed?) and size of tail (sex?). Ziggy often sits like that on the rock but it's something Bailey never does. Ziggy likes to bask more often than Bailey, too, and is a lot quieter and more shy than Bailey. Bailey seems more active - trying to...

    Found you all again!

Okay, after nearly three years... here are some photogs of Bailey and Ziggy. I rescued both three years ago from the school I work at. They had been given to the school as 'pets', in one tank, when an ex colleague's daughter went to uni and no longer wanted them. I think they are now about 8yrs...

    Found you all again!

Hello, I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't visited this site since 2020. No-one to blame but myself, I must be the most disorganised person ever. I think one of the last times I posted I was going to sort out some decent photos of my two rescue turtles, Bailey and Ziggy, so someone could id them...

    Wow!

Yes, back in the 60s our family had a tortoise when I was a little girl, but I have no idea what it was or what happened to it either. ?

    Wow!

Wow, I don't even have tortoises - came to this forum because I rescued two turtles - but I've since been reading a lot of the posts about tortoises and their care and it's fascinating! I didn't realise there were so many different types of tortoises in the world! And here was me thinking turtle...

I'm going to be loading up some photographs very soon - had them both modelling for me earlier! ?

Thank-you - although I think it's going to be a bit quieter than usual this year!

    Vitamin D and UVB question

It also explains why the turtles I've recently rescued are not suffering from weird shell deformities. For four years they were kept in a school as 'pets', in one tank with an old style Exo Terra light fitting which I very much doubt was replaced regularly, if at all! When I brought them home...

    Dang turtle must be PSYCHIC!!!

Ha! Not just turtles who do this. Our cat, Sox, is an expert in arranging herself into adorable poses until the very second I'm ready to press the camera button! And as for Ziggy and Bailey, I now have many photos of their back ends as they disappear back into the water or their caves as soon as...

    Water conditioners and ph levels

Great. I wish I'd read this *before* ordering some literally just the other day! So much conflicting advice out there! My turtles never seem to be bothered by water straight from the tap but after listening to what most other people say with regards to this, and having only been looking after...
