And little Axl is an EASTERN hermanns tortoise. Took be a bit to learn all the terminology and anatomy to understand. Peeved the seller sold him as a western and probably knows so but no matter. He is my little scutting monster!

Interesting. I was told that by another that they will never sleep out in the open, being a tiny prey animal. I will continue to watch and monitor the behavior!

Is it normal for hatchlings to stay away past lights off at night. Sometimes hes burrowed or tucked into a hide and sometimes hes just out under where his light was, sleeping. I usually end up tucking him under a hide when he does this- not knowing if he'll stay there all night or move...
