Hello. Today I soaked my sulcata as I do everyday. Then it started doing this weird dance in a circular motion. I kind of panicked because I thought it was a seizure. But my other guesses as to why it did this are either:
1. Our dog went near it and it got scared?
2. The water might have been...
I give him around 45min-2 hours of sun a day. It’s directly hitting him probably for only 30-45 min tho, the rest is just indirect light I guess. He’s on my east facing balcony.
And damn I didn’t know these UV bulbs could contribute to pyramiding??! :(
sadly, incandescent lights are super hard...
Yeah! I wish I had a farm... our garden is enough but we have so many pets. We’re already thinking of where to place his new home outdoors that would be safe. Any suggestions? Hahahaha
Yea, this UV light was from his old enclosure. I literally just already purchased a 10.0 one today, since the light is now like 16” from him (used to be just 12). Haven’t noticed any issues with his eyes, coz as you mentioned, the light is kept at a safe distance. Besides he gets natural UV...
Hi tortoise fam! Hope everyone’s been well. Last year, I posted about my poor Ube (sulcata baby) that fell ill and eventually passed after just a month. During my birthday last September, my brother got another sulcata baby. And I’m glad to say, he’s doing really great! It’s been a few weeks...
You’re welcome.
Here are more photos.
Top view. No fungus on his shell or plastron just yet. And it might be because we lathered a thin layer of the MCT oil on him too...
This is his super basic hospital bed. I replace the tissue substrate daily, and there should be tissue under his hide. As...
Hi guys. Here are some photos of his spots.
There's a big spot inside, under the shell and beyond his neck.
Here are his neck spots.
These dots are visible on his legs, but mostly on the neck area. I feel the MCT oil was able to stop it from spreading further on his legs, and hopefully...
Hi all,
It's been a tough week since Ube started acting sick. We went to a different vet today to get a better diagnosis, thanks to the reco of a family friend who's owned torts for a long time. Sadly, the vet’s diagnosis is yellow fungus, which could’ve come from many sources. I reckon it was...
We brought Ube to one of the more well-known reptile vets in my city. He didn’t mention RI, but he did say the ff:
1. Ube’s shell is too soft. He recommended 6-8AM basking in direct sunlight.
2. He’s a little dehydrated because he hasn’t eaten in 2 days. Vet injected him with the reptile...
Hello, and thanks! Asking because I wanted to bask my baby under the sun to see if it’ll perk him up a bit, but there was a bit of wind. Temps were at 33C even with the wind but I’m not sure if warm wind is bad for him too so I just put him back inside. In any case he was still in his enclosure...
maybe, as I see him scratch sometimes while soaking. He scratched a lot more than usual yesterday... :/ is it supposed to stop him from eating though?
Lol sorry, noob here. But hey your baby looks beautiful!!!
